Anyone else having high shipping charges on their items with calculated shipping? It's happened twice to me recently. Have a 1.8# package, dimensions 13x10x6. Calculated shipping for ground advantage was $16.00! I do have a $2.00 handling fee, so that makes it $14. Pirate Ship is quoting $8.70. Also tried to list a cookbook and the same thing happened, shipping was around $16. I tried to add another shipping profile with a fixed rate of under $10, but all it did was drop shipping to $15. I have deactivated both listings until this is figured out.
Perhaps you have postal counter rates (retail) enabled instead of Etsy rates? Check your shipping settings > Rates & Upgrades
I am seeing Ground Advantage from you to me with the weight and dimensions as around $8.00.
Think you have calculated shipping set up incorrectly as I am getting $16 to ship to me.
Calculated is weight of item packed and boxed. Dimensions are item only. Inner box of you are using one.
Package preference area must have all boxes and mailers used for one or more items.
If you are using Etsy calculate it for me that is only the first step in calculated shipping. You need to use a shipping profle for calculated shipping. The service chosen should be first class package and parcel select if you want only ground advantage used otherwise it defaults to Priority. But priority would be only around $13 from your location to CA if shipping Priority for a 2 lb box( 1.8 is considered 2;b.)
Do add your location to your shop home page.
I do have a shipping policy set up that I have used multiple times for orders without issues. That's why I'm thinking this might be a bug, since it has jumped the shipping cost up so high.

You were correct! Hopefully this fixes the issue. Thanks so much!
Were the 13x10x6 dimensions in the listing, or is that the size box Etsy picked? Do you have the size box set up?
I do feel like I've read about glitches with longer (over 12" maybe?) packages.
@VintageGal1971: "Have a 1.8# package, dimensions 13x10x6." What is the smallest box you have available in your package preferences that this will fit into (based on the measurements in the listing)? Perhaps the box size being selected is subject to one of the USPS surcharges.
Do you still have First Class mail as an option? If so, if it weighs over a pound, it will automatically kick it up to Priority Mail, whether the customer paid for it or not, and when Ground Advantage allows 70 pounds. Ground Advantage has not been added to Calculated Shipping yet, a year after it went in to effect.
I use Pirateship and purchase a Ground Advantage label unless I have some indication the customer was in a hurry and paid to upgrade to Priority. Then I have to refund the excess. But I am sure it has cost me some sales from customers who don't want to bother to contact me about it.
