Hello,
I am having issues updating my billing card.
There has been a notice in red in my payment account since last Friday, help centre says all is good, but notice still there.
Would you please check what is going on?
Regards,
Paola

What do you need to update? The expiration date?
I need to remove the bloody red notice from my dashboard, which asks to update a card number which I am not using on Etsy!
And my funds are on hold.
And support says my default card is ok.
This is happening to me also.
I had this on my other shop,
somehow the default button had been turned off, so although the card is valid and in-date, I had to click the default button again.
I have it set as default as a buyer, but no check next to the same number as a seller.
I think the issue is that few days ago, Etsy synced the shop payment account card with your customer shopping card.
Before then, the two cards were separate.
You could have a business card for your shop. And you could have a personal card as your shopping card, or no card at all (like if you paid by Paypal, for example), OR you could use a card (same or different) to shop and then go to your settings immediately afterwards and delete the card you used to purchase something so Etsy was not holding a shopping card on your account.
2 days ago, Etsy linked the 2 different systems (buying and selling) so that the card in your shop payment account must be added as the default card for your shopping account, including being displayed in each listing in the entirety of Etsy as the "buy it now" credit card.. There is no way at this point to override this new programming glitch.
If you use a different card while shopping as your default purchasing card, or purchase through Paypal and don't keep a shopping card on Etsy, or delete the card you use for shopping after every purchase so it is not stored as the "buy it now" card on Etsy, you will get this bright red credit card error in your payment account.
The only solution available at this time is to re-enter your credit card information in your payment account
*NOTE* When you re-enter the card to your shop paymemt account Etsy will also activate it as your default shopping card and display it in each listing as your "buy it now" card. There is no longer a way to decouple the buying and selling credit cards.
OMG thank you for this, I've spent 5 hours over the last couple of months working this issue and it appears your suggestion has solved it. THANK YOU
I use the same card.
Try re-entering it then.
It would be nice to know what happened on Friday night.
@CostumeCoutureNaomi "There is no longer a way to decouple the buying and selling credit cards."
With scammers going crazy, it's awful for Etsy to force sellers to keep their (buying) cards on file. I always deleted my buying card after each purchase, so if my shop gets hacked, no purchases can be made. Our billing cards now are exposed to unauthorized shopping. You welcome scammers!
I get monthly deposits. I'm thinking to remove my card and keep adding it back right before each deposit. Any thoughts if it's a good idea?
you don't need a buying card, if you are not set up to buy, remove everything from buyers side.
have a separate buying account, from your business selling account
@CraftyCornishMaids "remove everything from buyers side."
Your selling card gets added by default as your buying card. When you remove that card on your buyer's side, the billing card also gets removed. There is always at least one, billing, card on file on the buyer's side.
Crafty, prior to this week we were able to not have a buying credit card on file.
After making a purchase, buyers were able to go into settings and remove the card they used to purchase something.
That has changed this week.
Now, when you add your shop card, Etsy automatically links it as the default buyer card, with no way to opt out. Removing the buyer card results in a huge red banner in the payment account stating there is an issue with your seller card.
Worse than saving the card is Etsy displaying it in every single listing under "buy it now".
This is to follow up. I have solved the problem thanks to a fellow Italian seller.
If you are one, please be informed that Postepay Evolution is indeed no longer acceptable.
BUT, do not give up!
Just go and open a new online banking account. You will get a new credit card in no time.
