I've consistently had Star Seller status for some months now. I was suddenly dropped today and it says I need to keep going to earn the Speedy Reply badge. However I have a 100% response rate for the current review period as well as the previous review period.
I did the math. And so did Etsy. I have a 4.8 rating. But no Star Seller status.
Personally, I'm kind of on the fence about the whole Star Seller designation. Perfect shipping and review metrics don't count as much as $$ sales. I have lower cost items, so for this period I had 7 orders (would qualify) but the amount didn't meet the criteria. So I lost that designation for July.... I think most buyers don't necessarily look at SS to make a purchase decision, but since the Search filter can be set using SS - that is what I find problematic. If buyers use the SS filter option, they could be missing some great shops.
I get few reviews, and only had 2 for this entire period, both 5star. But didn't even get the Speedy replies badge even tho it's 100%...csv doesn't show a single miss. I dont' ship as I'm a digital seller, so don't get a shipping badge. The day before, the Dashboard told me I was on my way to Star Seller and the next only meet standards with no badge at all!! Someone mentioned in another thread that Etsy is aware and are working on the issue. So it is a glitch.
Did you make the required sales volume in the review period?
@CatsWhiskersCurios No, however as I said, I should have gotten the badges for speedy replies and for reviews. I got none. Has never happened before in the 18 years I've been on here. I used to sell physical items and know how star seller works. This IS a glitch
@Beadcomber: If I understand your posts correctly, there is no glitch. Star Seller is calculated and awarded only on the 1st of each month, and on that day you first need to have met the order quantity and volume requirements during the preceding three month period, and only then are the other metrics considered, so you would not have been eligible to be considered for any badges.
@BagmakerSupply is correct. If you don't make the sales volume, you are not eligible for any badges. You need to meet those requirements first.
@BagmakerSupply you're not understanding me correctly. I know that one requires to meet all the badges including sales amount for the 'star seller' badge, however, you can meet 2 of the requirements to receive those 2 badges. I had 100% for speedy replies as well as 5 stars for reviews (over 4.8 threshold), so I should have had 2 badges. I don't ship physical goods and for digital sellers that is also not a requirement. I previously met all the requirements back when I shipped physical goods and earned more than the requirement. Now I'm just looking for the 2 badges, not Star Seller as I won't ever meet the Income requirement at this point. Someone did mention they contacted Etsy and were told it's a glitch, so it is a glitch, but I guess it's heresay as I didn't directly hear it from Etsy. Just saying
@Beadcomber you aren't eligible for ANY badges until you've met the sales number and amount first. That is a prerequisite.
@CatsWhiskersCurios not to be facetious, but that is incorrect because although I haven't had star seller for months now because of not making the sales volume, and it was the ONLY thing that kept me from the 'star seller' words, always had the other badges showing in my shop. I'm not imagining what I've had or had been seeing.
@Beadcomber: Etsy has stated that meeting the sales volume requirement is a prerequisite for any badges, so perhaps the glitch was that you previously received badges you should not have?
Unless you meet the number of sales and monetary value, badges are not given on the 3 individual phases.
I'm guessing that when you had a higher volume of sales and money that you actually EARNED the badges and the SSB. Now that you are selling something different - your results are different.
If you don't make the first two, you don't get the other 2 or 3 depending on what you sell.
There is definitely a glitch. I am now a star seller for this month. With zero views and the review stats didn’t change I remain at 4.8 although I had recently 3 new reviews that gave me 5 stars. Also I noticed that sometimes it shows only 1 view and if I go back later to check the views it’s back to 0 … I have made no sales in more than a month . The last one was from someone I knew
@SmallTownGirlStoreUS It is not a glitch. They don't count visits or views for star seller. They count last 3 months. 4.8 is still acceptable for a star seller.
@mommawhazelquilts "unless you meet the number of sales and monetary value, badges are not given on the 3 individual phases"
thats me. Ok I understand now. I didnt know that bit of information. thanks
I have been on 5 Star status for months and suddenly my convo replies dropped to 94%. I answer every message to the point of ridiculousness. I always reply within minutes, or at the most a few hours when the person messages me in the middle of the night. I think something is up with the way those counts are tabulated. It’s really frustrating.
@thisgirlsjunk: What does the applicable CSV file available on your Customer Service page say? When you look at the file remember that that the dates / times are in UTC (not your time zone), only the first message of a new incoming thread is included (all that counts for Star Seller), and usually a new incoming thread is not included until after the 24 hour reply window has passed regardless of when you replied. Star Seller stats (and the CSV file) are updated only once per day so there may be an additional day's delay. There is also a link to the actual message thread so you can verify if the data is correct or not.
I haven’t checked the CSV yet. I consistently answer my messages without fail. I have not changed anything in the way I do things which is why I think it’s an Etsy problem. I have had 100% for well over a year and suddenly it drops to 94%. I’ll check the csv, but I definitely find it odd.
