Gift message written in another language

Hi everyone! 

My last order was made by someone with a Slavic name and marked as a gift. I'm guessing the message was written in their language because when I print the packing slip, it shows something like ??? ?????? ?? ????. 

Does anyone know how to get to display the message? I feel awful about missing a gift message...

Sometimes is just a printer communication issue. Try turning off your printer then wait and turn back on. That solved the problem for me,

You could ask the buyer to send it as pdf attachment and print from it. If a language has special characters, it might be getting corrupt and giving question marks instead.

Can you see the original message on your screen and does it appear correctly?  If so, can you do a screen capture and then print that instead?

Thanks a lot for your suggestions! I did try various things but even on my screen all I could see were question marks, so I decided to post the items with an apology note and explaining the issue, I hope they understand...

@TheNorthOfTheSouth: Presuming that Etsy encoded the string correctly, it is possible that your computer does not have a compatible font installed.
