Gift messages: You used to be able to unmark it as gift, and print it without the picture.
Now if someone leaves a gift message you can't unmark it as a gift and are stuck with the photo of what they are getting. It looks like they tweaked it. It is so ugly with the yellow ink and why spoil the surprise?
The old one was basic but you could fold it into a gift card.
For a place that says it is all about the gift, who would use a gift message that looks like that? And why do I have to find a workaround?

I've thought the exact same thing!
I handwrite notes to add with the order. Etsys is just plain ugly and detracts from the gift!
I've used the paint program to remove parts of it so I can use it.
Agree! I wrap all my items and if there is a gift message, the item they are getting is shown before they unwrap it. Now I have to spend time cutting off the picture and just sending an ugly little scrap of paper with the buyers message. Frustrating!!!
Just came up with a solution for my shop. I have sunflowers on my shop page (Pretty Prairie Designs) so I just purchased 500 sunflower stickers on Amazon that I can stick over the item picture. Faster than cutting off the Etsy image and was only $4.00.
