Gift message option

Hi 

I have the the gift message option disabled, but I keep getting customers sending me gift messages to add.  What can I do, am I doing something wrong?  I go to Shop Manager, Settings, Shop Options and disable Offer a Gift Note.  Thank you in advance.

Not much you can do. You can ignore the message, or not. I would take this as an indication that a gift message would enhance whatever you are offering, and would take advantage of the opportunity to create more customer satisfaction, and therefore more positive reviews. Personally, I allow them, and not only that, I don't just print them on the invoice. I buy inexpensive stationery or note cards from the Dollar store, and hand write the message for my customers. I get a ton of great feedback for this little personalized service from my customers, and it only takes me an extra couple minutes.

OP, you could send a message to the buyer that you don't accept gift messages, but in the time it takes to notify the buyer, you could follow AAANativeArts suggestion, and send a handwritten gift message on the packing slip or note card. Etsy wants to be known as the home for gifts.

@irmaKdesigns the customer gave me a message to write so really couldn't ignore it.  The reason I don't add messages is because my writing is just terrible and some messages are so long, it would look horrible and untidy in a little card.

This might not be convenient for busy shops, that's why enabling gift messages will at least create a ready-made pdf printout. Otherwise, buyers will be entering gift messages in Note section.

I type the gift message, print it out, and cut it out to fit on a small note card.  Then I glue the gift message to the note card.  I then tape the note card to the item.  It looks nice!

I turned off gift messages a few months ago because Etsy were only printing the first line and not saying who it was from. But I still get them sometimes, presumably it's a glitch or someone using an old version of the app or something.

I don't think you can turn off gift messages, at least it used to be that way. The only gift option you can turn off is the gift wrapping, right?

I wish I could disable it. I feel obliged to print it even though the cost of the paper and ink I need to use isnt factored into my pricing. And the template formatting is such that even if you select to only print the folding message, the other page prints too. And that isnt me being a computer-numpty, I distinctly select Print.. Pages ... Custom
