Gallery Image Photos are resized and ugly. My shop is a mess!

Hello Etsy Corporate Office:

I am writing to ask, *please* stop resizing shop images with ugly color blocks.  I am not the only one with this issue and this major tech problem (for us) is becoming a common thread throughout the Forum. The resized images on the first page of my shop, The Gilded Griffin, are poorly resized so that they not only look ugly and misshapen, but the resized photographs overlap the inventory title and pricing texts. This is quite off-putting to my customers! After so much hard work by the Etsy Shop Owners to produce quality images and beautiful stores for shoppers to enjoy,  this seemingly experimental engineering choice on Etsy's part creates a tremendously confusing and ugly graphic design situation.

Many of us are very worried that we will have to resize our Gallery Image in time and this thought is daunting to so many Sellers as you can read in the various forum threads currently circulating.  At the very least, we would appreciate some type of communication from the Etsy's Corporate Office as to what is going on and what we are to expect...which we believe should be only the courteous and professional action from Etsy to their Sellers  who are the foundation to Etsy's great corporate success.  Please don't leave the Sellers out of the loop!  Please let us know when we might expect and when this will end?

Thank you.

Julia

Re: Gallery Image Photos are resized and ugly. My shop is a mess!

I sat aside this morning for 20 listings all I needed was to add photos, two hours and nothing will load. Guess they are playing with images this morning hoping for a resolve soon. People can not just sit around waiting for tech to work out these issues everyday. Or I can not.

Hello,

We're having the same problem, and we think it may have been a technical error, which we hope will be corrected.

Otherwise our shop looks really unprofessional, and it hurts our soul to see it like this.

Thanks,
Larissa Xavier

Same! My shop looks so wonky now. My photos all used to fit, and now many don't even fit in the frame. I hope they fix this so I don't end up having to try and resize them all.

Re: Gallery Image Photos are resized and ugly. My shop is a mess!

Hi there...

I am having this same issue on my older desktop Imac - OSX El Capitan ...browser Firefox...really large wonky pixs overlapping.

Happened this weekend and is still messed up.

Took a look on my newer MacBook Air....and everything is perfect. Looked with all browsers, Chrome, Firefox and Safari and all good.

I can only assume its because my DeskTop Imac is so outdated as there are numerous other things that are working pretty wonky as well.

Not sure if this is the same issue that y'all are having, but, I thought I would share as it may be something for you to check out.

I just looked at all of your shops. Everything looks normal to me.

@CrazyOldLadyJewelry

Same.  All of the shops  above who are experiencing issues look normal to me.

I've read in other threads that it's a test, so, some of us might be in and some of us might be out.

My shop hasn't had these issues, so far.

My understanding is that the test is user based. So either all shops' photos will look strange to you or none of them will. If your shop photos look normal then that would be only your view. Your shoppers might be in the test and see them differently.

The forums are blowing up over this. I wish etsy would please communicate with us.

Test? Glitch? Change? Please just tell us so we can make the site look its best.

@Former_Member

Good point!!  I forgot that buyers are in the test, too, and that they might see my shop that way.  Agh!

So, to test that, @TheGildedGriffin , when you look at my shop, or others of us who do not appear to be in the test so we're not seeing what you are –do you see messed up thumbnails/listing photos?

what happened!? Most of my gallery photos are a tad blurry now!!! (not when you click into the listing - just the gallery) how can they do that? Like it's blown up just a smidge - but I definitely notice it...did they think we wouldn't? Was there any announcement about this or anything???
