Hi, I woke to an influx of replies in french. Then, I realized my account had been sending out a scam message to A LOT of french people.
My name has also been changed to “Etsy Support”.
I have 2 factor authentication on and hadn’t been notified about any suspicious logins.
Wtf do i do now?
Scrub your computer - you have been hacked, most likely by a keystroke logger.
Contact Etsy.
Your messaging privileges have probably been revoked as well.
Hi, what does a keystroke logger mean? Does scrubbingmy computer mean just logging out from browsers and websites?
You need to run an anti-virus scam on your whole computer.
If you aren't confident to do it yourself, take it to a professional.
"Keystroke logger" means that they can see everything you are entering on your current device - EVEN if you change your passwords, they will know.
So, you can try a completely fresh device that you've never used before (parent's phone, friend's phone) to change your passwords or they might just see you changing the passwords anyway.
is it possible to do it for an iphone? there was an instance yesterday where my phone screen was glitching out and everything became slow and weird.
On your phone, check if there are any apps you don't recognize and uninstall them. You may also want to look at your Apple ID account to make sure there aren't any unknown devices logged into it and change your Apple ID password. Check that the phone system is up-to-date. There's probably also a security scan function in settings (I have an android, but iphones should have something similar).
@DragoninKnots thank you for the suggestions! i’ve updated to the latest ios and didn’t download anything sus on my phone. i’m also not logged in to any devices.. i might just double down on some antivirus for my computer just to be save.
That sounds exactly Like a "man in the middle " attack

hi @CraftyCornishMaids , thank you for the article it was very informative! would this explain the lack of suspicious traces in my account’s log in history? that’s the part that’s puzzling me the most and etsy is still not replying me.
yes it would
I am so sorry that you've been Hacked. Da-n, this pi$$es me off. It's running rampant here.
Good advice from Platypus. Go to your credit card on file, change the Expiration Date to Today. Sign Out anyone who is not you (in the Sign Ins, under Security). Contact your bank immediately, and run a virus scan on all of your devices. Also, please report this to the authorities; you are the victim of a cyber crime.

@FabioMcMustache Another Hacked Account. Can you pleas assist. Thank You in advance.
I’m so puzzled because my account does not report any suspiciouslog in activities, it seems like the scammersdidn’t even leave a trace! i checked the sign ins and they were all by me and in my country. I have no idea how they got to change my profile picture, my name, and message a bunch of people. My shop is probably even blocked by the whole french population now
@waywaygoodies Yes, that is weird. I hope that Admin HerrMoostache will be able to help.
please help @FabioMcMustache !!
Bypassed TFA without notifications, changed your name without notifications, no other log-ins detected, a bunch of convos sent but nothing else touched? No bank changes, no fake orders, etc?
So many of these lately sound like someone hacking into the etsy system itself rather than just cracking an individual account...
yes exactly! no 2fa alerts at all, no new login alerts, and when i checked my email and etsy account logins, there was absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. i’m really starting to suspect that it’s something on etsy’s backend.
That is very scary! I hope it gets resolved soon.
tell me why it’s been more than a day and etsy just sent me a warning email for sending spam messages. i hate this.
Same thing has happened to me.
But no help from etsy yet.
I changed password and added 2 factor authentication but the messages keep happening
Someone has access to your computer then. Your problem may have started with Etsy, but is much bigger than Etsy.
omg and they have changed your name to Etsy verification with an etsy logo. very scary. hopefully someone will come along with some advice. maybe start your own thread.
You should have reported this situation to the authorities immediately .This may hold a solution for investigation whose is scamming Etsy shops. They are operating this scams through your hacked shop.
