Forum Glitching Everywhere

I know with all the other issues on Etsy, this one isn’t going to seem too important, but for the last week or so, the forum has been glitching all over the place, at least for me. Twice my notifications have completely disappeared and it said “you don’t have any notifications, post something to begin getting some.” And now twice the word “featured” above those articles has changed languages, but it was the only word on the page to be in another language, and it was different languages each time. 

I don’t know what’s going on around here, but I’d think they have more important things to be tweaking than things in the forum.

@MirageRiverCreations  To my knowledge, Etsy doesn't tweak or do anything with the forum.  It is run (hosted?) by another company called Lithium.

I'm not sure why you're getting so many glitches! Did you do the usual fixes, such as changing browsers, clearing cache, and finally restarting your computer?

@ForeverWindingWool Thank you. No, I didn’t do any of that. Last time the weird translation thing happened it went away pretty quickly. As for the notification thing, I just ignored it and went to my profile page for information, and it fixed itself in a few hours both times. : )

Thanks for your report! The notifications issue is something Khoros is investigating, and you can find their updates here: https://status.khoros.com/ 

For the "featured" translation issue, this may occur due to a caching error. Refresh the page and it should resolve. If it doesn't, try logging out and logging back in once your browser cache has been cleared.

the forums went haywire for about a week, with no notifications, missed notifications. all notifications from the year dot disapearing, one coming back, etc etc.

modfabio said their was an issue and they would fix it

mine was fixed yesterday, and I don't seem to have had any problems today - touch wood.

Okay, good to know. It just started happening for me a week or so ago. It happened twice, but then fixed itself in a few hours, so I didn’t really think it was a big deal, but then it started happening again and I thought I might as well mention it.

There was a thread about this sometime last week, where numerous sellers reported their notifications behaving as you describe.

An admin posted that the company responsible for the forum is aware of the issues and is looking into it.

And the header language changing has been happening for years; it has been speculated that it changes based on whose post was looked at last, and if that post was written by someone whose predominant language is not English. This has been just a theory though, but from my own observations there's something to it. For example, if I read some posts written by a German shop owner, even if their posts are written in English, the header sometimes changes to German.

if you have your language set to English (UK) it won't translate to English

it only translates to English if you change your setting on etsy, bottom left,  to English (US)

Well, I don’t know if it was the last post I looked at, but I do know I clicked a “translate to English” button yesterday on a post I believe was in French. Maybe that might’ve done it? What a bizarre connection, though. 

ETA: but I only just noticed it within June of this year and I hadn’t seen other posts about it.

I had been talking about it with others who also saw it, for a few years now.

ETA, I've seen it in German, French, and some other language but I forgot what that one was. Maybe Spanish.

A lot of the time my notifications show nothing. I refresh the page and there they are. It's always been that way for me since etsy outsourced the forums.

@CatsBeadKitsandMore Interesting! When mine vanished, refreshing the page didn’t help and neither did closing the tab and coming back again (something that often works for me on other sites if there’s a glitch). Some days I don’t see the little orange number either but when I click the notifications bell there’s new notifications. It’s strange and it’s seems to only have begun affecting my account starting sometime in June.

Yep, refreshing did not help during this recent problem.

not in the latest debacle, you could refresh over and over, and nothing happened,

and sometimes, out of the thousands notifications I have had,

it would just show me the last one

and sometimes I would just see @'s and likes
but no notification of replies

and sometimes it was just @'s, everything else, back to the year dot, went.

It really was a mess up.

I haven't received the header translation in a while (I think it said "Empholen"). But I have in the past.
Notifications were acting a little screwy a few days ago, but not so much now.

Something odd yesterday though. The Milestone Announcement/Thread was missing for the entire day. There was empty white space where this Thread resided (today the Thread is back).
Also intermittently, instead of having 6 Announcements at the top (3 across), when I land on the Forum, there are sometimes only 3 Announcements (1 row across). I have no idea why that is. Then when I come back to the Forum Page, 6 Announcements will once again appear at the top.

@ChillwolfArt Oh, I have that happen too! Except I almost never see six announcements. I only see five. Every day, only five unless there’s a glitch and I only see two. The other three vanish entirely and there’s only two until I leave the forum. close the tab out, and then come back, then I see five again.

I think I’ve seen six on a very, very rare occasion, but it’s so rare I can’t even be sure, lol.
