Forced vacation mode

Apparently Etsy has decided to put my shop on forced holiday to, in their words, "help me complete the backlog of orders" (5 orders 4 or 5 days late that we have already completed and shipped). Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get the shop back to normal mode or is this Etsy's new method of suspending shops?

I've already opened an incident ticket, but we all know how long they take to reply, so I could use it if someone in the same situation has solved it or even if someone from Etsy sees this and can solve it.

For the last five years this shop has been our only source of income and it would be nice to know if we should look for another one or if this is just a quick fix.

Re: Forced vacation mode

The wording of your closure is a generic one they use when they temporarily shut down a shop. The closure could be for many reasons. You could have a back log of orders or they could be investigating your shop. I am not familiar with the items you are making, but thinking if it is a video game reference, there could be trademark issues (unless, of course, you have a license.) The reason why they did this, something only Etsy can tell you. Hopefully, they will get back with you soon.

Re: Forced vacation mode

In the past it takes about a week after shipping the orders for etsy to take you off vacation mode.  Etsy may also be monitoring your shop due to the recent low reviews you had regarding items being slow to arrive or not delivered. I am not sure if it's because you're on vacation mode, but can't see any stars regarding shipping and messages, which shops now show if they always ship on time and respond to messages, so etsy may be monitoring your shop due to shipping late.

Don't open more than one support ticket, stick with just one and respond to that, updating and waiting. But it does take about a week from what I have seen.

Re: Forced vacation mode

Good luck with getting your shop reopened. I went on holiday 20 May and while I was away a bill for £16 was issued (16 June), I paid it when I got back from holiday 2 weeks later (1st July) and attempted to reopen my shop. It remains in vacation mode with 'deactivated by Etsy' in red under every listing to start. Two days ago 3 items were visible with the 'deactivated by etsy' missing. No idea why, but by copying one of these and adding details from deactivated listings I hope to get everything back up for sale - though my holiday message is still visible. I messaged etsy with the problem, they got back to me days later said it was sorted but it wasn't. I got back to them to say so 6 days ago - still no answer - but they have no problem charging me for advertising my non viewable items!

Betreff: Forced vacation mode

@WarbladeStudio  it could be that you are under investigation by Etsy for selling counterfeit items.
Stating ‚inspired by‘ and ‚I‘m in no way affiliated with…‘ is not a legal basis for selling these items.
Either you have the license from these companies or you don’t. If you do, provide them to Etsy, if you don’t stop selling them.

Re: Forced vacation mode

I would recommend staying far away from the term Skyrim.     They likely have you on the radar and if a buyer files a claim, you will automatically lose because it's a trademarked term that they are famous for defending tooth and nail.    If you've sold them awhile, I'm actually surprised you went as long as you did.

Edited to add:   I wonder if it's also the case of a "weapon" - even if they're not able to be sharpened, in our current culture, cosplay is taking a very different turn because of events.

Re: Forced vacation mode

There's nothing we can do on the forums and sometimes, Etsy "solves" (your words) the situation by no response.

To Etsy, no response IS the response.

You shipped late and were suspended.  Once you shipped, was there tracking?

Etsy is really cracking down in many areas and there have been many shut downs due to late shipping.  Sometimes (not always) it's resolved when tracking #'s are entered into their system.

Re: Forced vacation mode

How your shop has survived to the tune of 3,200+ sales is beyond belief.

Kind of looks like someone may have gotten "wise".
