My free, on time shipping with included United States Postal tracking information (youre welcome) was incorrectly calculated with the post office having received the item on time and I was embarrassingly rewarded with a shipping badge removal thereby showcasing my shop as no longer a star seller during this pivotal time of March for my category.
I was told by customer support that my following two orders being shipped on time would rectify the error in calculation and to patiently wait 24 hrs.
After speaking with not one but 3 customer service reps I was shuffled off to the forums where I was guaranteed I would receive outreach from support.
I am a stockholder and am an original etsy member who has had a 5 star rating since the unethical program began. Fix the problem, in this time of quick decisions made by the consumer and a flood of unqualified products on the etsy platform, there should be flexibility in cases such as these. Unacceptable.
@CarpetCollectionAU also the 2 orders I was told might offset this unaccounted for error were indeed on the 28th
@BlackRabbitNYC If the Orders you expected to overcome "late" shipping evens were on 28 Feb, then I think you have the explanation. Those Orders will be assigned to the Month they were due to Ship, not the Month they were Shipped. The SSP data will "update", but not in time for the March SSP.
The Month of Feb confuses many, including Etsy Systems and Etsy Support, because it has 28 days, not 30/31
As for the Orders due and shipped on 24th Feb, Etsy uses UTC timestamps, not local time so, depending on where you are in relation to UTC timestamps, it is conceivable that you marked as "Complete" on 24th Feb Local Time, but it was after 12 am 25 Feb UTC time.
@CarpetCollectionAU the dates upon which the 2 subsequent and poss significant to my accurately and timely shipment on the 24th shipped on the 28th. Those 2 orders were ordered in Feb and shipped in February.
@BlackRabbitNYC "Those 2 orders were ordered in Feb and shipped in February. "
BUT ... the crucial fact is WHEN were the Orders DUE to ship? If they were not DUE to ship until after 01 March, then is does not matter WHEN you shipped them. They will not be counted in the 01 Dec - 28 Feb CSV Data.
@CarpetCollectionAU omg carpet, due to ship AND shipped on the ship by date with evidence from the United States Post Office.
@BlackRabbitNYC OK. Only you know the "facts"
But I still maintain that you have what looks like a 3 - 10 day Processing Timeframe, so any Orders received, processed and shipped on 28 Feb would not be DUE to Ship until after 01 March, so they will "update" to count for April SSP, but not March SSP.
Many people fall for this "last Day of the Month" tatic, thinking that Shipping all open Orders will overcome a lower Shipping %. But that is not how it works.
@CarpetCollectionAU As for UTC and not having the default be in local time that is an easily solvable problem and should be reviewed given the outcome of its use and practice.
@BlackRabbitNYC Etsy uses UTC as it is an International Platform, not a US centric one.
@CarpetCollectionAU yes I understand I only mean local to one's time zone. Again, the 3-5 day timeframe means for me that and order to be shipped no later than the 24th and shipped on the 24th would be the fact in which I am operating under. Shall arrive by..., or anything other than ship by date I am not considering. I thank you for your giving thought to the issue.
Its a technical issue and should be treated as such. Where ya at tech? Perhaps buried under piles of star seller complaint histories
@PristinityJewelry while im encouraged by your enthusiasm, the reality remains the same. I, the maker, provided an on time gratuitous shipment of goods with crucial evidence on a platform that failed to regard my on time data entry simply for the technical error in calculating the local time and referencing the tracking data with additional location and time stamp. An easy fix and should at the very least have an overide for special circumstances given how much the company benefits from our individual accounts. Albeit data harvesting, trend reports and cold hard cash.
I really don't understand why some sellers seem to think they are so privileged! Instead they should be acknowledging responsibility for their own plight and not bashing other sellers who are just trying to help!
@BlackRabbitNYC -- I have resisted thus far, but at this point, after hearing so much complaining from you on the subject, and your unnecessary bashing of @LaRenaissanceGirl) who was just trying to help you, I really think it's time to say ... your "privileged" attitude needs adjusting! You seem to think you are so special because you are a "stockholder" that has been here since 2006, and that makes you solely entitled to any Etsy benefits &/or any Star Seller forgiveness, no matter how perfect you think you are! The reality is ... you are not perfect, but none of us are! I am sure you are well aware the forums are only made up of other sellers who are only trying to help &/or sympathize &/or empathize with you on the subject at hand (Star Seller); however you should already know ... there is nothing we (or Etsy) can do for you regarding your star seller stats ... the reality is you need to contact Etsy directly and work things out with them. Complaining here in the forums rarely, if ever, does anything to change things for you or anyone else! As Etsy has already posted multiple times within the SS program rules, there is nothing they can do ... nothing will be changed! I'm sorry if I seem snarky, it really is not my intent, I really do understand your point of view, but instead of pointing fingers and stating how "easy" it is to fix things, how about having some empathy for the Etsy programmers who are just trying to "fix" all the other problems that are plaguing you and everyone else! The star seller program seems to plague multiple sellers every fricking month ... not just you ... so please, for Pete's Sake, try to understand for once it is NOT all about YOU!
@TBQSC Thanks. I have been sitting here wanting to say exactly what you have said, but resisting lest any of my comments just prompted more unnecessary criticism, not to mention inappropriate diatribe.
As far as I understand from the few actual facts provided, there is no issue to address.
The OP seems to have, for whatever reason, been dinged for failing to mark Orders sent on 24th as Complete with Tracking. Now, this may be an Etsy system glitch or it may just be the way the system works. Either way, every single Seller here has to work within the same system and its' quirks such as UTC timestamps etc.
As far as the second complaint is concerned, and despite the fact that the OP interpreted the Customer Service advice incorrectly, the Orders sent on 28th would never "auto update" the SSP metrics for the Badge awarded 01 March if, and I say if, these Orders were not due to ship until after 01 March.
It looks like the "short" Month of February may have exacerbated the issue as, if the Month had 30 or 31 days, the SSP results may have "auto updated" in time for the new Month metric to include these.
But the bottom line is, despite all the sarcasm and derision, many people tried to explain as best we could.
At the end of the day, this is an issue to either take up with Etsy or gracefully walk away from.
Amen!!!
Someone had to say it, well done @TBQSC an @CarpetCollectionAU .
@TBQSC Aw, thanks for the support. I'll own my sidedish of snark that accompanied my genuine helpfulness. But, I was just annoyed about the aggression towards fellow sellers who have no power to "fix" anything. The "you're fn welcome" did me in LMAO!
The star seller program is flawed in many ways, but it is what it is. I would say the "shipping" metric is the easiest to personally control besides responding to messages. The most difficult is reviews because that is almost entirely controlled by the buyers. And we have absolutely no control over the income aspect which is bs that it's even included. Anyway, I don't personally believe that SS does anything for our shops except keep chat open and keep us (maybe) out of payment reserve. Other than that, it's dumb.
@TBQSC Yawn.
It doesn't matter when they are sent, or what the tracking says.
Star seller is based on what you input to etsy and when
So do it correctly, and it will be counted correctly
Etsy does not need to fix anything, they are doing exactly what they say they will do, with YOUR input.

Just went back to read the Thread again as I thought I recalled something significant among all the unusual verbiage. Looks like the Shipping Badge was gone long before the 24th Feb "problem"
OP says on Page I of this Thread "I reached out to support when i saw that my shipping stats of 94% with the one resounding no had now lowered to 92% with my 2 following on time ship/entry orders.'
But, then again, the OP seems to have a "unique" way of communicating so, perhaps, I am mis-reading this?
OMG From Announcement "Please enjoy your time shopping directly from me. If you feel especially satisfied with your purchase feel free to add a small tip here
OP, an Etsy Stockholder asking for a "Tip"? Carina, a whole website for a $ 5.00 tip? Unusual, to say the least.
@CarpetCollectionAU I saw that earlier. I didn't want to tell her she couldn't do that. lol
@BlackRabbitNYC -- where exactly is your name listed as an Etsy stockholder? I've not seen it mentioned anywhere within Etsy, so maybe it is not actually worth anything and has no bearing on any official Etsy business like you may think it does! I am certain ANY Etsy stockholder knows how to adhere to the Terms of Use and would never navigate away from them by asking for "tips". I believe the gig is up and you've been had ... you my dear are a fake!
@TBQSC Double Yawn
