@UKCIGARETTESILKS  Definitely a scam. Etsy already has your email address.

Re: False Email from etsy

Definitely a scam!  There have been multiple posts in the forum daily of this happening, and ever-changing variations.  Etsy will never ask for your e-mail; they already have it.  Never click on any links, and never give any banking details.  Just send the message to spam.

Scam.
I'm guessing the email address is CONVERSATIONS@email.etsy.com
That means the message came from a "buyer" not support.

@UKCIGARETTESILKS  Sheesh... at least you were smart enough not to give it out. Good for you.  If the email or message does not have the orange "E" logo then it is not from Etsy technical support or anyone at Etsy. Send to your spam folder if its a message or email.  All sellers should have a message prominently displayed in their dashboard and asked not to respond and place the message or email in Spam. Some sellers already know this, but many do not.

Re: False Email from etsy

I read a few days ago that some of these "fake" Etsy support messages had that orange logo that made it look like Etsy sent it?
And if so, a message having this orange logo could be a scam message.

Re: False Email from etsy

SCAM!  A buyer would never ever need your email to pay.
Etsy doesn't need your email, they have it.

These scammers want this email so they can send you to a FAKE Etsy site and get you to either enter your bank/credit card info OR want you to buy a $500 gift card so these scammers can "activate" your account and want you to send the scammers pictures of the front and back of the card.
They only want to STEAL your money.

There's 100's of posts about this scam.

Here's a few more links on getting paid and other ways to spot scams that are on the help pages.

Re: False Email from etsy

Yep - I had one this morning. Looked very authentic with the orange logo on it and seemed believable as my shop is new and it was asking me to verify my details for a first order.
