Hi there, I am trying to connect a facebook shop and am not seeing the facebook provided meta tag verification code anywhere on my shop page's DOM (html view in developer tools). This then leads to facebook not being able to verifiy the domain and ultimately prevents me from connecting with FB. Is there a delay in the meta tag appearing on our shop pages? I believe this is a problem that is definitely on the etsy side of the equation, because FB will call to see if the meta tag is visible via their page crawler. Please help!
There is another thread also about this issue. No resolutions as of yet but figured the link would be helpful for those of us tracking the resolution.
Other post on same issue Oct 2021.
Considering it appears to be 2 weeks this issue has been reported, I sure hope they resolve it soon. This is a huge issue.
I have the same issue and I went beyond and register a domain and still doesn't work!! So what I find is either you type "youstore.etsy.com" or "yourstore.com" it will always redirect the link to https://www.etsy.com/shop/yourstore which facebook stated "You can only verify the root domain (example.com), not a subdomain (store.example.com) or subpage (example.com/store). Do not add prefixes (http:// or https://) at the beginning." therefore the meta tags will not work and facebook will not be able to verify the code.
I believe this is an issue from etsy site, where it redirect people to https://www.etsy.com/shop/yourstore which is not suppose to happen when you have your own domain. Even when you type the yourstore.com they will ultimately redirect you to the link above and totally defeat the purpose of having your own domain. They even partner up with Hover which I'm currently use right, you get you own domain but they still redirected you back to https://www.etsy.com/shop/yourstore. which prevent us from link it to your facebook shop or instagram shop.
Etsy support please help and deal with this technical issue
I noticed the same thing and was even showing my husband the exact statement by facebook vs the instructions by etsy because I really thought I was losing my mind at that point... lol. I'm like this is never going to verify in the format of shopname.etsy.com. I have another etsy shop which has a domain as well through Hover. I thought the same thing and tried to verify it first. I even thought about trying Pattern at this point... would that work ya think?
Nevermind on the question about Pattern working. The format is pretty much the same like shopname.patternbyetsy.com. It would be the same result I'm afraid.
Having the same problem here!! Waiting for reply from Etsy
Same problem here. So glad I found this thread. I thought it was just me, and have been sooooo discouraged!
Etsy have dropped the HTML containing the Facebook code from shop and listing pages. It was there previously, and shopname.etsy.com did verify on Facebook, but now Facebook cannot see the code because Etsy don't include it in the page.
This is an Etsy problem.

Fixed!

I write "my store name" is working!!
cth = xxx.etsy.com
I literally pasted the generated meta link into the Settings /Facebook shops and bingo ! Instant verification
Well, its now November 2023 and I'm having the same prob;em. I've been in contact with Etsy - because when you paste in the FB generated meta-tag code into the box supplied by Etsy, a space and a forward slash at the end of the HTML mysteriously disappears - so FB won't verify the domain as the code doesn't match. I've supplied Etsy with screenshots, I've cleared caches, I've switched browsers - I'm exhausted trying all Etsy's fixes.. nothing works - because it's a problem buried deep in Etsy's coding - it's definitely an Etsy problem - I'm envious of your guys that eventually got your domains verified --- My complaint has been escalated - but I don't hold out much hope. I only want to sell more prints of Scotland - you'd think they'd want more sales - Grrrr !!
So seems to be years later... this has to be solved and I have to just be a "nudie" that I can't figure it out.... I seemed to have gone through all steps but can't seem to find any links on FB for my (Very new) ETSY shop. Will try more tomorrow, but is there some magic step that's not defined on either websites pages?
I was part of the original discussion. I never did find out how to sort this.
Be careful with these integrations. I did something trying to connect my shop to my Facebook page that contravened their advertising rules. No idea what I did wrong, but I’m now banned from advertising through Facebook as well as scheduling posts via FB to my Instagram. The automated appeals procedure found in their favour and no recourse to appeal the decision.
It wouldn’t be so bad if FB at least told me what I’d done wrong.
I can't seem to edit the metadata on my Etsy home page to add the link from Facebook. Did anyone solve this problem? Is there a video tutorial?
@HeatherBoydWire: You cannot edit the metadata on your shop's home page because that page does not belong to you - it belongs to Etsy.
Does this help https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360051633874-How-Do-I-Verify-My-Domain-for-Facebook-Shops?se... ?
I've followed these instructions repeatedly. It doesn't work - frustratingly.. that's why I reached out. It appears to be a long standing issue.
No joy this end either, I have the code, copied it in exactly the same as the youtube video I found but whe I go back to Meta it hasnt updated the page to give me the 'verify' button to click... just the same page with the code??
Aaah ok, I've just gone through the painstaking process of typing in the webpage full address on my mobile (previously trying to do everything on laptop) and the green verify button was at the bottom, so must have been something to do with my screen view (although it didn't give me option to scroll down further).
I hope you all manage to get sorted, I feel like I've cobbled my way through this whole process and no clue if it's set up correctly - it's certainly not been easy more so from the Meta side of things.
Not sure if this video is useful, but this confirmed what I had done was right - the only thing is to ignore where he says its the alphanumeric part of the code only to copy from meta to Etsy - copy the lot and Etsy streamline it down to the alphanumeric part. NB it won't just let you type in or copy the alphanumeric part.

Thanks for the this . I'll give it a go!
Please do let us know! I know meta/ Facebook definitely confirmed verification but actually when I thought about it after sending the above post, I don’t know if that automatically means it’s verified on Etsy or how I can even check if Etsy is verified?
if anyone knows how to check if Etsy is verified please do let me know
