Does anyone know how to make a formal complaint against Etsy? So far I have spoken to support 5 times and they refuse to tell me how to lodge a complaint.
Etsy have put a hold on my deposits for a week now after making me ‘verify’ my existing bank details. i had no idea this was coming and not having my funds has caused me to miss business payments from my business accounts and have charges. I have communicated this to a Etsy, but the process of verification has been extremely slow. I was told several time by etsy support that once the small deposit from Etsy was received into my account it would be 2-5 working days before I could ‘verify’ it with a link, and this finally came through yesterday so I verified my account. My bank account now says ‘verified’ but despite this my funds did not arrive today and now it says ‘temporary hold on deposits’, even though the account remains verified. I requested another a call back about this and was told that once verified Etsy then take a further 5 days before depositing ‘ for security reasons’! What on earth are the security reasons for withholding someone’s funds once the back account is verified - when you make a payment to someone new on online banking it takes seconds to verify.
I checked this on the Etsy help pages and it states the following:
If you change your bank account, your net earnings will be available for deposit 5 days after you update your bank account. The 5-day delay doesn’t apply if you’re only verifying a bank account already on file, and not changing the bank account.
My account is the same one I have been using for years so as far as I can see Etsy have no right to hold onto my funds for a further 5 days! In addition to this, the help centre is in Central America as far as I can tell and there is no escalation process, no speaking to anyone about a complaint and no further processes. They just keep telling me they are ‘making a note on my file’! It is absolutely appalling that Etsy can treat its sellers like this - small businesses that rely on the small revenue them make, and withhold funds for 2 weeks or longer. Etsy used to care about small business…….
Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know the complaints procedure?

Etsy and sellers is a business to business contract between businesses, (or P2B) there is no complaints procedure
if you want to make suggestions, you can log a ticket
If you think they have broken their contract, there is a dispute process

New laws in the US is making Etsy confirm identities and re-verify bank accounts. As for holding funds longer, Etsy's TOUs allows for Reserves and holding funds for up to six months. If Etsy is having difficulties verifying your bank account or information, they can hold your money for much longer than 5 days.
Not what you want to hear, I know. Sorry. Hope you get this resolved quickly.
