Etsy wants Gov Issued ID (Passport etc) to Match my UK Limited Company

Hello!

As you'll all be aware Etsy wants us to submit additional tax information. 'No problem' I thought -big mistake!

I'm a limited company, using my accountants as registered address (my personal address is on there too), but then Etsy requests government issued ID to match the comapny name and registered company address, but the only ID options are personal IDs -and unless I'm very mistaken, you can't get a passport or driving license to say XXXX Ltd

I've uploaded my personal driving license ID, in case that helps but Etsy has now shut down my shop and I'm at a total loss what else I can do, especially as it seems impossible to reach anyone at Etsy.

Has anyone had this problem and being able to resolve it, or any suggestions?

put your UTR,  in the additional taxpayer ID field, underneath the legal shop information

Hi Melanie, That is exactly where we are as of yesterday!! We are also a Ltd company and it seems to be saying that the ID must be for the Legal Entity name which is impossible. I also had my name as Debbie but my licence was in Deborah so not sure if that has muddied the waters as well!

I have been searching high and low for somewhere that gives a link to an actual chat facility or a human being but it doesn't seem to exist. I even asked a well known Etsy coach here in the UK and also one in the US if they had any way in through the backdoor so to speak but all they both said was to use the Support Desk. We all know that it is waste of time - I have been waiting over a month for a reply to a different query!!

It is very scary especially at this time of year when your Etsy shop brings over 85% of your revenue.

I wish us, and all the many shop owners who this seems to have happened to in the last week or so, the best of luck. I really hope we find the answer.

Don't you just give them the companies house incorporation certificate? I think that's what I did.

Hi Melanie,

As you will see from our other reply, we were in the same boat as you yesterday. I noticed that the name on my Etsy account was Debbie but my driving licence was Deborah and this appears to have been the issue. I changed the name on Etsy to mirror my licence, reuploaded my licence and a few hours later I got the all clear from Etsy and we are back up and running.

They took our shop down on Tuesday evening and reinstated it yesterday evening (2 days) so hopefully for you it should only be a short amount of time before you are back live again.
