For the past couple months I have not always been getting my message notifications (orange dot) so I reported to Etsy several times, I did all of the things they told me. I use the latest firefox, cleared cache, cookies but nothing works, I ALMOST missed 3 messages! Etsy sent me a "test" message; I received an Etsy email that said "test" from Ren, but they never said anything in the email so I asked them about it and got no response!!! NO notification or any message showed up on my dash from Ren!!!! Now I am looking at my downloaded messages and it says I missed a message from Ren, when I click on the link it shows a message that I sent to a customer!!! SO this month I am not a star seller because I "missed" one message that I NEVER received from Etsy! Now Etsy tells me to post here, they can't change my star seller status! I know how this will go, probably nothing will ever get fixed, my star seller status will not change.
Etsy really shouldn't tell you to post here, as we are only other sellers, and can't actually fix anything.
etsy are messing around with e-mails, and messages, to try to "group" them together, and it seems to be making things more complicated.
I find it annoying if I send a message to a customer it now shows up as a new message in my messages and not a sent one. I have to archive it to get it to go away.
@CraftyCornishMaids They may have asked her to post here in the technical forum so the tech people might see it. Etsy phone and chat help are outsourced.
Hopefully this will get the problem noticed because they do monitor this thread.
I hope so, they blew me off the last time I had a problem and closed the case!

Includes the following highlighted paragraph:
"Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges. If you think your Star Seller score was calculated incorrectly, you can let us know in the Technical Issues forum."
I wish they would have told me this last month, they keep passing me to someone else or they say they it was passed along to tech support but I have heard nothing from tech support. The last time this happened they closed my case and never fixed my other problem! That's why I am a little worried now!!!
@JMOldeVintage - I can't find the solution to my problem. My badges were calculated correctly but none were awarded. Etsy support told me it was a glitch but never advised to me post in the forums.
@NanaLetha - The OP mentioned that Etsy told her to post here. (Maybe chat or phone support?)
Or maybe they emailed a link to the help section article on the star seller program I posted?
Or maybe she has taken other's advice where it was suggested she read the article? And she saw the portion I did a cut and paste of?
So many "things" on Etsy all link together. Some of them affect the star seller program. As CraftyCornishMaids said, there is probably a glitch with the messaging due to the changes Etsy says are taking place, linking messages from one buyer? And that is causing a trickle-down affect on everything?
I know I shouldn't say this, but it sounds like your "Help" person was more on top of things & at least realized they shouldn't tell you to post here. And for those who do take the advice to "read Etsy's published information before contacting Etsy" I find it ironic that an Etsy article advises them to post here.

@BluKatDesign Yet, they have absolutely no problem collecting their fees right away! They are sure on top of THAT one!
I’m calling FOUL on this one.
They sent you a test message to determine whether their system is working and then lowered your rating because you didn’t- and potentially couldn’t- respond.
Too many sellers incorrectly blame Etsy for their own lack of personal responsibility, but this one is on Etsy.

Once agin -- Hocus Pocus Star Seller World. Confusion and mazes -- just hope it eventually gets straightened out and all policies and regulations are clearly explained and become consistent across the board. That way sellers will be able to apply the rules to any situation they may be in the middle of
I sure would love to have my star seller status changed but also I would want the original problem of not receiving notifications fixed also!
Mark it as Spam and it should clear it from missed messages in a few days.
It's difficult to mark a message as spam when you didn't receive it.

(Pardon if you've already seen this); Admin Announcement:
(Don't know if this has anything to do with your Message which has disappeared. Etsy is "Bundling Messages" to keep things "easier" for Sellers. Unfortunately as with many tests, chgs, and the like, along come glitches. (You may have seen Threads where Messages fr. Sellers have linked themselves to older Orders fr. Repeat Buyers). Definitely glitches abound.
I sincerely hope your issue is resolved, as well as everyone else's problems thus far re: "bundling" of Messages.
I do have PROOF Etsy that it was your test message that I NEVER RECEIVED that I was dinged for!!!! Still waiting for my notifications to be fixed also.....
