If anyone out there can help, we would very much appreciate it. We've been selling on Etsy since 2012 and have loved it -- until now. Our sales are down 70% year over year and we have no idea why. If you search for items, you can't find our products. It's like we've been shadow banned. I've tried calling Etsy and the person I spoke to told us that we're doing everything right. Has anyone experienced something similar and figured out what to do about it? We're willing to try whatever is needed.
Desperate in PA
Same with my shop. I am selling on Etsy from 2013...
Don't have a clue, get a lot of visitors and views but sales way, way down,
Same here, views and sales are down!
I have no more views ans no more sales, so sad and so many questions but no answers
Since the beginning of April, my sales have been way down too. I normally have lots of American customers and orders, but not this month. I'm wondering if they're worried they'll be charged extra tariff costs, which they won't, given I'm UK-based with UK-origin products. It's a worry.
Fellow Etsy sellers, I'm hoping to get some insights. My shop has been around since 2008, and I've noticed a massive decline in views. I went from 1000 daily views to under 100. My sales have also taken a hit. From January to April 2024, I brought in $13,497.29 in sales. That number has dropped to $9,495.28 for the same period in 2025.
I've been slowly trying to update my many listings, but it's overwhelming. For those who are experiencing a similar drop? What steps have you taken to regain visibility? Any advice on where to prioritize my efforts to get my shop seen again would be incredibly helpful. I'm don't understand the terms "shadowbanning" and "shop indexed" what does this mean? @Duckwells @VintageRescueSquad I appreciate any feedback. Faving some shops above.
Because you have items that are not allowed on Etsy, your shop may be throttled in search.
Remove any items that do not follow the rules of Etsy.

I'm surprised that you don't understand the term shadow banning as you used it in your title. You have quite a few suggestions in this thread, what have you implemented?
I suggest your efforts should be prioritized in photography, pricing, and reviewing each item labeled vintage for accuracy. Non eligible listings should be removed and sold elsewhere.
Sorry OP, I thought I was replying to you. @TheIDconnection you should start your own thread
Honestly, I'm not aware of any. In the past Etsy has alerted me. If there is something I'm not aware. What items? @PlatypusDream
Oh… don't worry… they will be more than happy to point out anything wrong.
Etsy generally doesn't "alert" sellers other than to take down items that they have programmed bots to remove.
Have you had removals by Etsy in the past? This means that you would have marks against your shop that throttles the rest of your items in search.
One example I see in your shop are your 2008 quarters that are falsely labelled as "Vintage from 1990s". They aren't vintage, so don't belong on Etsy.
Check the rest of your items to ensure they follow the rules.
This is the worst Mothers Day sales that I have had in many years. I ordered a bunch of stuff to be ready (on my credit card) and will have to use savings to pay it off.
@PlatypusDream what items are not allowed?
@PlatypusDream- my bad! I've corrected it! BTW I do follow the rules! If I didn't I wouldn't be selling on here. It was an oversite when I copied the listing from another!!!!
You can't actually "correct" that listing. Items from 2008 aren't allowed under Etsy's rules unless you made them yourself.
#forums are NO help! Just rude people. I'm out!
Trickles of shoppers, oceans of jewelry. We are are each a needle in a haystack in a galaxy of haystacks in universes of galaxies. The odds of something you have being found by the person who wants it are very very LOW. There are endless items to browse, limited shoppers, and they can only scratch the surface before browsing fatigue sets in. Your shop is great, always has been. Extremely well done (I love the gray photo backrounds and consistency; an excellent browsing experience), very enviable and spot on inventory. I'm betting you are on every essential platform and have a high level of marketing processes. But there are Oceans of jewelry and dwindling shoppers. Just keep doing your best and be thankful for each sale and your 13++ years of success. Good luck to all of us.
My # sales and $ sales are way down. Again, I won't be a Star Seller for May. I've added many new items to my inventory, in the last month, but when I go to Etsy search, and search by title, none of them show up. They are visible in my shop, but not in the only 20 pages on Etsy general search. I've listed many vintage glass fruits and vegetables, but they don't show up. How can I sell my products, if people don't see them?
@JanetsCrafts: Your question is not really a technical issue, but you need to give up on the concept of Etsy search providing the results that you expect. Due to "personalized searches" there are many many factors that affect listing placement and the relative weight of each factor probably changes constantly. Even exact word matches to your title no longer ensure that you will appear in search.
However, you can NOT rely on anyone's search results (particularly your own) to define how your listing is ranked in search. Additionally when the algorithm keeps seeing that you are not purchasing the items it shows you it will eventually stop showing them to you.
The forums are full of people complaining that organic search is no longer enough to prosper on Etsy. You may need to drive your own traffic and sales so that the algorithm learns that people want what you are selling.
I have the same issue! Need help
Belle boutique ! I think, Luxe, Antiquity, and vintage became difficult to sell here in the international economic conjoncture. We seriously have to consider another sales chanel.
We are experiencing the exact same issue. Had great sales up to the US elections and now sales have almost gone flat. I can understand the US orders slowing down with he tariffs battles going on, but not Canada, Australia, UK and EU. There must be something else affecting sales, but we have no idea what!
Hi, yes same scenario. We are hardly getting any sales. Did you find out why? Do share.
Please help my numbers are down 75% of the spad a week. Everything I built up over two years is gone. I can’t reach Support. I can’t message there’s clearly problems.
