Hello.
Etsy removed one of my items, it's a hoodie for women. And I'm not sure what is wrong with the hoodie, why is it fo prohibited to sell on Etsy?
I email support and support said to check Prohibited Items Policy It doesn't say any item about hoodies. There is no image on the hoodie.
Doesn't understand why I can't list the hoodie.
Thank you
Hoodies can no longer be sold for kids - I see one of your listings has a tag Girls Hoodie. That might get it removed (girl or boy hoodie). Instead use woman or ladies. I can tell you are not marketing these to kids, but the bot can't tell.
Were you selling the hoodie as a blank, as opposed to a customized design listing? If so, and you do not manufacture the garment itself, you are technically reselling the item and not adding any value to it. Did you try listing it as a craft supply? That's the only one of Etsy's three main categories under which it might qualify, but even then I think that's stretching the definition of craft supply.
It's a blank hoodie that I do customize. I sell custom apparel. The email said (Your listing(s) were removed because Etsy prohibits the sale of certain items that are highly regulated, including (but not limited to) children’s upper outerwear with drawstrings for size/age 14 and under. You can read more about this policy) It's a women's hoodie.

Hey no promoting here.
@ArtDollsbyJD The OP isn't promoting. She's showing what her listing looked like in order to figure out why it was deactivated.
Drawstrings in Children's Upper Outerwear: Frequently Asked Questions | CPSC.gov
"Under voluntary standard ASTM F1816-97, drawstrings at the hood and neck area of children’s upper outerwear in sizes 2T to 12 (or the equivalent) are prohibited. In addition, the length of drawstrings at the waist and bottom of children’s upper outerwear in sizes 2T to 16 (or the equivalent) has been limited to 3 inches outside the drawstring channel when the garment is expanded to its fullest width; such garments must be free of toggles, knots, and other attachments at the free ends of drawstrings. If a waist or bottom drawstring in upper outerwear sizes 2T to 16 (or the equivalent) is one continuous string, it must be bar tacked (i.e., stitched through to prevent the drawstring from being pulled through its channel)."
It's the draw cord ... perhaps use a different way to describe this part of the item?
"Items that may pose a health or safety hazard are prohibited, even if they have not been the subject of a recall. This would include, for example, items that present a choking, electrocution, or strangulation hazard. We generally rely on information from various government agencies to identify these items."
Wow, that's all my hoodies use that word. Thanks
I thought that drawstrings were only for children's items. I guess I was wrong.
It could be that only children's items are supposed to be covered. But that Etsy is using one of its notorious software 'bots to scan listings for certain words or phrases. It's a blunt instrument and catches the innocent along with the guilty — 'amber' is a notorious example.
Thank you very much for explaining that to me.
Did you accidentally list it under children's clothing perhaps? Or one of the tags says girls, or kids?
You have 'girl hoodie ' as a tag on this listing: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/824540437/unisex-sponge-fleece-hoodie-muscles
If it sells or renews you may find that is deactivated too. Editing may also cause deactivation. Depends what the bots are searching for.
Oh yes, I'll remove that tag. Thanks.
Can we remove the strings from the hoodies then sell them? I have a bunch of hoodies that are for kids that were taken down.
