Etsy provided wrong address on shipping label. Product was returned undeferrable. Now What?

You need to contact the buyer.  The buyer is the one who provides the shipping address not etsy.  

What I typically do is refund the purchase minus the shipping fee and then let the buyer know that if they want to repurchase they can do so making sure to updage to a correct address.

Etsy prints the address the customer provides. Did you look at the order and the address on it, vs address on the order?

Etsy uses the delivery address the buyer left on the order, if it was returned undelivered, you need to contact your buyer and ask them to confirm the address with you.  If the address was indeed correct, you can take the package to the PO and ask them to resend on their dime because the address WAS correct and it should not have been returned.  If it is incorrect, get the buyer to give you the correct address and resend.  In this case, it is up to you if you charge them additional shipping to resend it (it was their mistake after all, but you may be willing to wear the cost).

I just had something similar happen. The customer provided the correct address with an Apt number as part of the address. I printed the label and missed the fact that the Apt nr. was not on the label and it was shipped and returned with an Insufficient address noted by USPS. If this was not an expensive package to ship (about $150) I would not care, but this is the fault of Etsy as I have double checked on the complete order details and found that the customer listed it correctly, but Etsy's printing process did not work. Now I know that it will probably be an impossible task to get a refund for this. On top of it the carton was badly damaged and I will have to repack it again.
