Etsy listings disappearing without a trace?

Jump to solution

I’ve jure discovered a problem today after several customers contacted me to ask when I would be restocking certain designs of mine? I was confused as I work on a made to order basis so everything in my shop is always available unless it expires and I need to renew the listing.

At least 6 of my best sellers have disappeared. There’s nothing in my sold out section, or inactive or drafts etc. Just gone with no trace. If I try to find the listing by clicking on the product from a previous order I’m being given the message « sorry this item is unavailable »

Ive also checked my emails and I’ve had no notice from Etsy about items being deactivate by them? I’m pretty confused but also worried. Explains why my sales have dropped so drastically this week. I’m hoping there’s just a glitch that needs fixing.

FYI: Everytning I sell is my own work. There’s nothing I fringing etc so I know it can’t be that and I’ve certainly not received any takedown notices. But with no explanation and no way of finding my original listings, I’m worrying that they’re slowly all start to disappear with no explanation at all.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I think this is some sort of Etsy glitch. I have noticed some of my products randomly disappear from time to time. About all you can do is relist them. As long as they aren't in Inactive files with a note that says Deactivated by Etsy, it should be ok to relist them.

Thank you. I finally found emails in my spam box. I’ve replied to someone below with more details

I have had several active listings disappear lately and the part that sucks is having to reshoot and rewrite the description. I sell vintage not really anything handmade.

You have a number of hoodies with draw strings for children that are no longer allowed to be sold on Etsy because of strangulation issues.

Thank you. Yes. This was the reason. I actually found emails in my spam box from Etsy. I’ve had to contact them as my childrens hoodies don’t have draw strings. I’ve noted that in my listing as my supplier doesn’t offer drawstrings on kids hoodies as per the safety regulations. I’m hoping they can solve this but I may have to make new listings for kids alone and show the hood with no draw string which is a bit of a pain as I don’t have pictures. I will need to make a whole batch of those designs specifically in kids sizes for picture and new listing purposes.

@DYENASTYDYES

Since Etsy uses bots to take down listings, when you make your kids size listings, don't even mention that there are no drawstrings. That word alone may be picked up by a bot to get your listings deactivated. Use some other words to describe it or just the pictures as you mentioned.

Something is definitely awry at Etsy ... first thing anyone should do is reset their PW and set up 2FA.

Always a good idea, but that won't do a thing to protect from Etsy's plethora of glitches and improper takedowns, and certainly not legitimate takedowns.

This just happened to me. 41 items, my own not infringing any copyright or anything, gone

@DYENASTYDYES @cocoandcoffeevintage : What happens if you try to go to the listing directly - https://www.etsy.com/listing/[##LISTING_ID##] or clicking on the listing in a sold order?

@DYENASTYDYES  I just looked at your shops...

Says you are not currently selling on Etsy.
