IS anyone else experiencing this? I set up my shop two days ago. Etsy immediately messaged me asking for me to read an email and input my credit card info to verify that my card is my card. Today, I wake up to find that someone has made a purchase but etsy has sent me another message asking me to do the same thing once again even though i did it yesterday. I keep telling them that I have already done whatr they have asked me to do and still they say my account will be blocked. I dont understand what is going on
That is not Etsy. It's a scam!
That is not Etsy I am sorry to tell you. That is a scam,
If you gave credit or other financial information contact CC company and/or bank immediately.
Etsy messages only appear in the folder marked Etsy. Outside of that folder that is a scam message.
Do read the information on this topic about scamming. It is a hot problem right now.
OMG... :"""((((((
If the message is from etsy, it is in the "From Etsy" folder, in your messages, in the folders on the left hand side.
if it is not there, it is not From Etsy, mark it as spam, do not reply
If you have given them your card details, contact your bank NOW, and let them know you have been scammed.
If you clicked on a e-mail link, run virus checkers NOW
....
no-one has made a purchase from you, you have no sales, that is also a scam message
This is a scam. Send the message to spam. Thieves are pretending to be Etsy staff. This scam has been ongoing since at least July 2023. Messages from Etsy will show up in your mailbox titled "From Etsy".
Real Etsy staff will never ask for your email address because they already have it. Also, any actual orders will show up on your dashboard. If the sale is not displayed on your dashboard, you don't have a sale.
Don’t respond or provide any personal or financial information. Don't click any links that take you off the Etsy site.
If you have provided any financial information, immediately contact your bank to report fraud on your account!
Make it part of your daily routine to visit the forums. You can learn about ongoing concerns, problems, glitches, and scams. Stay informed!

Slam Bam, Scam you Ma'am.
These goons are using Verification as one way of posing as Etsy Support/Staff, etc. I'm sorry you were targeted; they've been going after new Sellers as well as seasoned ones. Just don't forget to Mark the Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller). Anything not in the "From Etsy" Folder, zap it.
Also, should you receive a FAKE Message from a Buyer stating they need your email, it's another scam. Etsy has your email. When you have a LEGIT Order, it will show under "Orders & Shipping" (Left Column in your Shop Dashboard). If it isn't there, you have no Order.
Hope this helps you, and may the scammers cease fire. So sick of them.
@MyCreativeExploits It's a scam.
@MyCreativeExploits Don't you have a "From Etsy" section in your Messages? That's the only place they will message you.
If you entered your credit card details yesterday have you checked that the scammers haven't stolen from you. You should have reported that card yesterday and had it closed.
I got two of these messages the other day in my other account. They both had a blue etsy logo, not orange. One was from New Jersey and the other from Florida. Shouldn't any of these things be even a tiny clue that this is a scam?
You need to check your credit card NOW.. Call the number on your card and report this. They will cancel the card and issue a new one. Hopefully you will not be responsible for fraudulent charges.
you have 0 sales - block your credit card
