Hello everyone.
My shop has been suspended by mistake 4 times in a row in the past 4 months. Today, I received a notification that my shop will be put on vacation mode and will be permanently suspended for 30 days because my number of complaints exceeded the limit. However, all of these cases were from customers requesting refunds when my shop was suspended by mistake. This is purely a technical issue. I always provide the best service to my customers, but why is Etsy recording cases of customers requesting refunds when my shop was suspended by mistake? This is not my fault at all.
I look forward to receiving help and advice from everyone. Have you encountered a similar situation with your store?
Are you sure it wasn't other problems?
For example, your shop location is VIETNAM but you claim to be selling "authentic" Ojibwe dreamcatchers??
It is illegal to claim that your crafts are "authentic" Native American items if ACTUAL First Nations people didn't make them with their own two hands.
Thanks, my store suspensions were all without notice. I didn't know about this until you mentioned it here. I love Dreamcatcher and I made it myself. Is there any way to save my store?
Anyone is allowed to make dreamcatchers.
What is not allowed is using the name of a tribe to sell them (or anything else) if you have no tribal affiliation.
Native American Crafts - Our House Rules | Etsy
You can make dreamcatchers but you have to label them as not Native American.
Does not matter if it was an Etsy mistake or not ... if your shop has exceeded the # of cases &/or # of refunds allowed, then Etsy has the right to permanently suspend your shop. It is their platform, so their rules apply ... does not matter if you like it or not. Technically you agreed to abide by Etsy's policies when you opened your Etsy shop. What were the reason's given for the four prior suspensions? You say they were mistakes, but WHAT caused that mistake to repeatedly happen? So sorry this is happening, but I do hope you are able to get it straightened out so you can continue handcrafting your dreamcatcher wares.
A closer look at your items reveals they are being sold by many others! I'm wondering if that is why Etsy may be suspending your shop?
But you also say "100% handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail by skilled artisans" in your description. WHO are these skilled artisans? If YOU are NOT the one actually handcrafting your wares, then THAT is what the problem is. Etsy requires all handmade items to be physically handmade by the shop owner ONLY ... or designed by the shop owner but made with production assistance. I see ZERO production partners listed in your shop! You also mention in your about section "here I would like to introduce to customers our newest products" ... WHO is OUR? If you have more people helping you create your items, they are required to be listed as shop members! Etsy's house rules!
you are not allowed to make and sell "authentic" Native American anything unless you are a Native American!
I have not received any reason for the previous suspensions and have not received any notice of suspension. All of my products are made by me and I took pictures of them myself with my phone. It seems that the problem is with the title of my products, right? Can I fix it? Because the notice says my store will be suspended in 30 days.
@CanaryDreamcatcherVN Etsy will not give reasons for suspensions. The bottom line is you are not a Native American Indian and are not allowed to sell your items anywhere. It's the law.
Suspended by mistake? Or was it a question of ID and bank information?
If it was truly Etsy's error then contact them via email to discuss it with them. They are the only ones that can deal with your situation.
@CanaryDreamcatcherVN: You say that "My shop has been suspended by mistake 4 times in a row in the past 4 months." but you also say "I have not received any reason for the previous suspensions" so how do you know the suspensions were a mistake? If you missed something as basic as the Native Americans Crafts policy, perhaps you also missed other Etsy rules. Maybe you should reread all of the Etsy Terms of Service and related rules to make sure that you are in total compliance before asking them to review your shop.
