Etsy gradually removes my free listings

The last month, I have noticed that my free listings count goes down randomly each day (and not by the number of new listings I post) - some days 5 listings disappear, other days 31 etc. I started screen shooting the listing count and free listing number a couple of days ago and cannot see a pattern. I don´t have any listings with autorenew, so I know this is not the issue. Anyone else have had this problem? Are there an expiration date on the free listings, that I have just not heard of? They were earned by referring people to open an Etsy store.

I have tried to contact Etsy in vain - I just get a standard reply that has nothing to do with this issue.

Auto-renew sold will also use one of your free listings -- so every sale will mean your free listing total will decrease

Hi,  How do you get free listings?  I have never had any free listings from Etsy.

You can get them by sharing your referral code. Whenever somebody uses it as a first time etsy seller to setup a functioning shop, they will get 40 free listings and you will get the same.

If you have listings with multiple quantities, whenever one sells, the remainder are relisted automatically so the listing is ready for the next sale, and you are charged a renewal fee for each.  If you have free listings available, those will be used in lieu of the charge.

Thank you for the info - I have set all my listings to have multiple quantities, and therefore thought that I didn´t have to pay for this every time, but I was wrong. I will need to add this to me earnings overview. Thank you

I have experienced something similar. When I made changes to my expired listing and then renewed it, Etsy took 2 free listings instead of 1. I have reached out to support, and they couldn't help.
