I'm putting forward a thesis. Etsy displays my shop on a rotating basis. Unfortunately, I receive incorrect data from Etsy. When selling and shipping all over the world, I can't believe that one day I have 28 orders and the next day 2. When my etsy store is displayed, orders appear literally every few minutes. then many hours of silence... and again. I am devastated by the changes I have seen since July. My sales decline is 60% year-on-year. And no, it cannot be explained by the crisis. Because orders come in 2 days a week and then they go away... So they obviously display my store too little - they only charge me for advertising Just not displaying my store.
I'm very curious how many people see the same trend?
With millions of sellers on Etsy, they have to show what the customers search for. If you want more exposure, you can always pay for sponsored ads.
I have 250 euros per day...and my ads? Oh...well sometimes there is a good sell from ads - during this two day...
@IgiBee: Not disputing that you may be correct, but with all of the testing and tweaking that Etsy does (particularly with search) plus factors such as throttling and frequency capping it is very dangerous to make cause and effect correlations.
Debgerous? ... I really dont know what to do...
Agree completely. It’s not a marketplace in the true sense. Very sad
There are several shops that are selling your exact same designs and some are less expensive than yours. Maybe you have more competition now. Have you thought of coming up with your own unique designs that other shops are not selling?
First, you can easily test that thesis by searching incognito, using a VPN etc. Check not only for search ranking but also if you are showing up on other people's listings in your field.
Second, there are sometimes good reasons that traffic can fluctuate, including promotions by Etsy or someone else, a mention of a general product on tv or elsewhere etc.
Third, you have some recent low feedback which may have hurt you in search and other places - that is part of the algorithm.
Fourth, your items show as arriving after Christmas now, so your sales may be more erratic for the next few weeks until we get past the holiday.
Fifth, as mentioned above, a quick search of dinosaurs show that other shops are using the exact same dinos in their designs. That may contribute to buyers thinking you are not the artist, or buyers opting for something similar that is cheaper. Work on expressing why your dinos are better than the other dinos that look the same. For example, is your decal quality better?
Finally, Etsy's algorithm is much more personalized and contextualized now, showing different items at different times, to different devices, to different age groups etc. There may be something abut your listings that Etsy thinks does not appeal to certain groups or situations. There may or may not be a way to alter your offerings to counter that. Back when I was seriously selling here, I didn't have this problem because when my more popular items dropped in sales, my niche items picked up. I had 2 items where Etsy would show one higher on the weekends (the cheaper item), and the other during the week. They were both still visible, but one ranked higher on page one at different times. Having more options made my sales more consistent - now that I have removed most of my items from Etsy, my sales vary more widely.
[I'd strongly recommend asking for a critique. I noticed a few things which could hurt you, such as typos in the panda balloon print]
It's certainly possible to have many sales and then few. Sales go up and down. That's normal.
Etsy does not target individual shops. Sure listings are going to be rotated and moved as other sellers have more or less sales.
(I would ask for a shop critique)
You have several low reviews that mention the same issue. I noticed you haven't responded to the low reviews or you simply respond with "thank you" rather than addressing the issue. As mentioned above, the low reviews may be affecting your ranking in search. It would be in your best interest to work on quality issues in your shop.
Etsy often dings shops by lowering them in search. Here are some reasons:
So depending on what Etsy is seeing on their side when it comes to buyer satisfaction, or if Etsy suspects you of violating policies, yes, it could be Etsy is choosing to bury you in search.
