I had my Etsy shop on the back burner while battling cancer and surgery. Now I'm back, and after re-editing my photos over and over, I just discovered that all of my .PNG images are being converted to .WEBP. I used PNGs for years, and while they look good on my end after editing in Photoshop, the colors change and they look off after uploading. It wasn't a problem before, and I don't know how to keep them looking right. I'm frustrated after spending so many hours on this. My version of Photoshop doesn't offer WEBP as an option, and I can't invest more in new software after thousands spent. What can I do to keep things looking good? If I can find a way to use WEBP on my end, can we upload images in WEBP format so that they aren't changed on Etsy's end? I don't want anyone else changing my images. Thank you in advance for your help!

Betty

All jpgs and pngs are by default "RGB".

There are many different types of RGB.

You need to use the correct RGB colourspace which is "sRGB" (which is to the IEC 61966-2-1:1999 standard).

If you save images in a different RGB colourspace from sRGB then the images will have incorrect colours when shown on Etsy pages. When processing the image files Etsy ignores the colourspace information in the image file and assumes sRGB.

Many Apple and Adobe products by default save images in non-sRGB colourspaces. They will mess up on Etsy unless you convert the images to sRGB.

Lawrence, I checked within my Photoshop CS5 and PNGs are not saved as sRGB. My bad regarding that. However, saving as a JPG allows for the sRGB colorspace. So, thanks again! You have been very helpful.

This is kind of late.  Sorry.  I just read your question.

On my Photo shop, I have the option to "Save to Web"  that option changes the image to a JPG and saves it to the size you request.  Not sure about all photo shop applications.

   Maybe this will help.
