When I go to my listings page, several newer listing say they have been renewed one time. Why is that? And will the Etsy algorithm think it's a 4 month old listing has received little traffic (and therefore promote it less) when it's only days old? Anyone know anything about this?
They renew when sold because you have a qty more than 1.
The listing is good for 4 months or until it sells. You sold one so it needs to be relisted for 20 cents. If you sold then you need to renew. If you want to renew it yourself you need to change the quantity to one.
I just had this happen too! One of my listings had zero sales but 1 renewal and it hasn't been up for more than a few weeks. I have no idea how that happened. Luckily it was just the one listing, but now I have to keep my eye on all the other ones.
I have found 5 listings where this has happened. I'm trying to get a response through Etsy Help. I encourage you to do the same. We shouldn't be charged for items that aren't due to be renewed. How many other people has this happened to?
@SimplyInvitingLLC: Were you actually charged for the renewal (according to your payment account) or is it only that the renewal count number is wrong?
I was charged. Luckily it was just the 1. I gave up waiting for a response so I will just keep my eye on my new listings and hope it doesn't happen again.
If the listing renewed due to a sale, since you have multiples available, that answers your question. If, however, it's 4 months old and automatically renewed, you may have Auto renewal set, even if you didn't intend to. This can happen more easily if you use the mobile app. Just go to your listing manager view and scan for the auto renewal note. It would appear right below the # in stock & price line. I've done this more than a few times. If you spot some, just check the ones you want to change and go to the Editing Options to "Change renewal options" for them all.
You have 8 items listed or renewed since February 17th. Were any of them renewed or were they new listings? I don’t know but I thought I would toss that out as a possibility.
I just saw this is a few days old so the dates probably don’t matter now.
