Etsy also put my shop in Vacation Mode involuntarily....

Jump to solution

What is going on with Etsy? I see lots of others are having the same issue. My account is in good standing, I've been keeping up with orders, I am a star seller, but for some reason Etsy put my shop in vacation mode while they review my info? I have four children ranging in age from 1-10 and Etsy shuts my store down during the holiday shopping peak that I rely on to support my family? It's bad enough that I have to involuntarily participate in the offsite ads which takes an additional 12% on top of the Etsy's ever increasing fees, and having to watch the value of my shares of Etsy stock dwindle down to almost nothing, but now they shut down my shop when I rely on them the most? Thanks a lot Etsy, you guys are really in it for the small businesses...

Yep, and ships to the UK, but has a no returns policy, not surprising really, account isn't up to par in terms of legalities and policies.

I just checked and all my legal and tax info seems to be correct, I don't see anything missing. As far as seller details, I don't see any place to add any other information.

That is correct, I do not accept returns, but I don't think that would be a reason to shut down a shop though. I wasn't given any kind of notice that I would be required to accept returns. And Etsy has a seller protection policy to cover certain international returns similar to Ebay, and like I said, Etsy never sent any kind of notification that I need to change or update anything.

We are in the same position. Etsy puts our shop on holiday mode almost every Sunday. It is on holiday mode now in fact.
I cannot see any reason for this. It is almost seems as if Etsy is doing this to restrict our sales. I hope I am wrong.  I have tried to reach out to Etsy Support, but did not receive a reply.

You have some IP concerns. I see 'officially' licensed on one shirt, but nothing on others. Not saying that's it, but you also have Insane Clown Posse in your banner.

IP could be it. Could be something else. But I'd suggest taking some time and ensuring that you're up to spec on everything.

AND, as the UK folks mention, the laws there have a lot of requirements. If they see that you don't have them, listen to them. I believe you also have to post your business (if you have a business site) or your HOME address to sell to the UK.

Yes, I sell a lot of authentic and licensed merchandise. I have had to provide documents in the past showing that they are authentic, which is a pain, but usually it's a different process. As far as the shop banner, I sell vintage items as well and those are just some examples of items I sell. If it's an issue I'd happily change that, but like I said, I haven't been given any reason for why my shop is in vacation mode.

@KinsmanTradingCo

based on forum lore (been here since 2009...) they won't provide that.

frustrating, yes. But...

I'd strongly suggest removing anything from your banner that is 'one of' or IP. JMO. If you sell that shirt, and don't have another one (and if true vintage, of course, you likely will not...) it may save you some heartache down the road. The AI search bot that Etsy is using is trolling for stuff like that...

I didn't see officially licensed or authentic or vintage in the 2 listings I viewed. Maybe not enough coffee, but if you can do a deep dive into the listings, and ensure that info is clear (and maybe put an infographic in to emphasize?)

just a suggestion. There are so many knockoff illegal IP shops here that I would be very wary to buy anything like that without a lot of solid provenance.

Just me.

and yeah, Etsy won't share the why. I'm just sharing what I'm seeing which may/may not have any bearing at all. Hope this resolves for you ASAP.
