June 14: I have just gotten off the phone with Etsy Support. Over the past (nearly 2) weeks, I could not consistently list new items in my shop, The Gilded Griffin. I have reported this multiple times to Support, and each time, Support states that yes, there are glitches and the New Listing Form is not working. Tonight, they said that they are asking sellers to use The Old Form, if possible, but she also stated that the Old Form is likewise inconsistent and, at times, blocking new listings as well.
Etsy Support also stated tonight that they have known about this for some time now and that, yes, this is considered a widespread outage. I responded that the sellers are not currently notified about this and asked why Etsy's Mgmt. refuses to acknowledge this lack of communication.
Etsy Support told me they were sorry, but since this is being categorized as a "widespread outage," they have no idea when it will be resolved. Support simply indicated that there is no end in sight presently while they are working on this. Hopefully, it will be resolved when The Old Form goes away....
If you are being affected by this 'widespread outage', your feedback is crucial. Please contact Etsy to let them know about your experience!
I hope that these changes are going to make some kind of incredible difference for the best once this is all resolved!
Best wishes to everyone!
@ChristianHomeGifts This is an old thread, and whatever problems existed at that time are almost certainly not what's going on now. Better to start a new thread explaining the issues you're having.
Thank you for the update!
Most welcome! Geesh, it seems to me that Etsy should be making these announcements. Best wishes!
So both the old and new listing forms are glitchy.....that's just great!
Honestly...."widespread outage". We get that when the power goes out. This is what they are calling it when Sellers cannot list? (rhetorical question). Today's Update to the Announcement said nothing about a "widespread outage".
ETA: Today's Update at the bottom of the Thread. Nothing about a "widespread outage".

Aha. I suspected the "new" custom listing form was even more broken because they have tried to link it to the new listing form. And that update confirms it.
What a mess!
Also, it's more like "widespread outrage."
Yes, and no one can reply to their announcements directly because they have blocked this. Obviously, this is due to too many negative comments! Oh, this is tough on marketing for the shops and painful for the sellers! So much time is lost.
The Announcements are open to "likes" but I don't think they have ever been open to comments.
At times, when major changes arrive Etsy does start a Q&A Thread somewhere. What questions are answered are based on frequency of that question being posted &/or the number of likes a question received.
Has Etsy started anything like this in the forums? (Sorry to ask, I'm still in limbo here)
I think the announcement update yesterday was done somewhere between 2 & 3pm EDT.
But here in the Technical Forums Etsy does state that they will post about issues that are 'widespread'. But what Etsy thinks is widespread is based on something unknown.
Hopefully things do get squared away sooner rather than later. If the fixes they're making to the new form are in the end messing with the old form, one does have to wonder where this is leading to.
"Also, it's more like "widespread outrage."
Indeed. I saw that.
Then a day later I saw Etsy sweep through the forum and shut the threads down. With no comment as to why.
Widespread outage sounds better than 'a lot of stitches have gone awry'
Thanks for the history @JMOldeVintage as I have not participated all that much over the years here on the Forum nor have I had so many issues with trying to successfully run my shop! I appreciate your time. All my best to you!
Hello @OneEyeCatStudio! Yes, I wondered when and if this might happen. This is not especially good PR for them. It would be far easier if Etsy Mgmt addressed these issues with decent (not even good or outstanding) information about our troubles and pain! They truly would find a more cheerful audience of sellers if they were truthful and transparent. If we only had an inkling of an idea that they cared about the sellers!

All announcements from Etsy are closed to responses.
I really like the old listing form better and have been using it consistently, but since Etsy has notified us that the old form will go away June 25, I began using the new one (about four days ago). Almost immediately my sales dropped significantly! Does anyone think a glitch in the new listing form caused this? Or is this just a coincidence?
The listing form has nothing to do with the number of sales. I am still using the old one and sales have been slow this entire month in this shop. I still use the old one in my other shop and sales have been great there.
Listing form is in no way connected to how and when people buy.
This site has been here for 19 years. More glitches than ever. Perhaps if they just left the site alone - the way it was, there wouldn't be so many problems. They're always tinkering with our shops and the site, and causing all of these problems.
I theorize that the changes and screwed-up release work are likely because seemingly everyone is trying to build an online shop these days. I theorize that all this is due to volume of input into their systems.
However, I did lose a sale yesterday because the (new) customer was nervous about the error messages she claimed she was getting related to my shop's shipping. This was a problem with the New Form, as I found after trying hard to find answers for her. How many others are turning away from buying due to these confusing issues? And no one from Etsy will be transparent about these problems.
Why is Etsy making it SO hard for its clients to list and sell now?
After ten years on Etsy, which has been a nice supplement to my teacher retirement, I am finding it more and more difficult to actually continue.
First, for ten years I have sent every person who has ‘hearted/favorited’ an item or my shop a personal thank you note and coupon…was a great promotion for sales. The icon to click and send such messages disappeared this year…WHY?
Second, the new listing form takes twice as long to navigate—SO much scrolling. Why can't Etsy leave what works, working?
Third, I just spent over three hours going through 100 plus items marked ‘requires update’ to correct. What was the problem? Every item I had ALREADY designated as USPS Ground Advantage in ‘Shipping
Service’ disappeared. Since my items are various sizes and weight, I had to do each item individually.
@TheGildedGriffin With 19 years to practice, the site should be perfect by now, without constant problems and glitches.
You can't send promotions to a customer directly because they would have to opt in. Otherwise it would be considered unsolicited contact or spam. Etsy doesn't allow that. Etsy has a system to set up coupons for favorites or abandoned carts and Etsy send them out to (some) potential customers that have opted in to receive promotions.
Nous crions tous au secours.....
Que de temps perdu
C'est très vrai. Merci d'avoir commenté! (Mon français est mauvais! Désolé!)
The ship is set to sail and they're still patching the holes?
Why is this the best comment? I am rolling laughing...thanks for the stress relief!
@cutestgiftshop ...hello again. When I first started this morning, I put on a listing, and it was posted without any problem. Not long after, I tried to post another listing and, like a painful punch to the stomach, yet again and over a week later I received the "Hm, we're having trouble saving your changes. Try again, and if this keep happening contact Etsy Support." So, I went to your comment here in the forum and carefully followed your instructions. All went well until I tried to save the draft's images. The same old burgundy reject with "Hm, we're having trouble...." came up again. So it appears that it is something with the photographs as other sellers here are mentioning. I have tried several further creative ways of attempting to list over the past couple of hours and nothing works. I have a feeling that this is a long-term issue that will last for weeks. Thank you for trying and for letting us know what has worked for you, @cutestgiftshop. Sadly, it did not work here. All my best!
