Etsy Star Seller rating dropped after combining an order for a customer

I just got off Etsy Chat with this problem and they gave me a link which sent me here.

I had 1 person who ordered from me in 2 separate transactions going to the same location and he asked if I could combine shipping so I did. I combined the 2 orders into 1 and took the tracking number from the label I purchased on Etsy from order #1 and copied and pasted it into order #2 because it's all in the same package however, my shipping status rating dropped because of doing this and Etsy chat stated each order must have it's own independent shipping label to count towards the Star Seller badge. I have an issue with this because I've read other posts on this forum stating that adding a tracking number to combined orders is OK and counts towards you Star Seller rating.

How can I fix this and get my Star Seller badge back on track?

When you put the tracking number in manually, did you also 'complete' the order so it showed as shipped? You can use the same tracking number for multiple orders if they are going to the same address and you have put it in manually. Etsy chat is manned by people who read from a script and rarely know much more.

When did you complete the orders? It generally takes a day or two to update the files. 

I have combined plenty of shipments and they definitely did not need their own independent tracking number to qualify for the SS stats, but they also did not update immediately.

@AnniebelloPaper Yes I clicked on "complete shipment" to make sure everything would be fine so as  @audreytherese suggested, it may need time to update. I shipped the order out yesterday (saturday) early afternoon so hopefully it just needs time to update which is fine. Etsy's chat worried me saying that I couldn't do that but everybody else doesn't seem to have an issue with it. Thank you for your quick responses!

I experienced this last week and spoke through a representative on Etsy chat. I was advised the engineering department knows this is an ongoing problem and they are working on it.

Not true at all, as others have pointed out.

It's more likely that you're caught up in this issue that many of us are having now. A lot of orders are being counted against us because USPS tracking is not being updated on Etsy -- the packages never get out of pre-transit stage.

I've have this happen before. Check in another day or two to see if it updates.
