Etsy is not updating with the USPS on tracking. I have a package that will be delivered tomorrow, according to the USPS website, but Etsy still says pre-transit.
My star seller stats are impacted by this. That is how I figured out what is going on because it said I am missing tracking information, but it is included in each order prior to the ship date set.
I have a similar problem. I mailed with an Etsy Label on March 1st. It's now out for delivery but still shows pre-transit. I was on chat with Etsy support for over 30 minutes. They said it's coming up as an invalid tracking number for could see the progress on the USPS website. They said it was an Etsy problem but could not fix. I'm supposed to get an email on how I can fix it!. Evidently, each support person is giving a different answer.
I have a whole bunch doing the same thing. However I am not in any way being penalized for it as far as star seller. I'm still showing 100%. Are some people being affected as far as shipping on time.
If so that's weird because it hasn't made any difference in my shop as far stats go so I see this as a complete non issue. The USPS tracking is correct so if there is an issue with a customer they can see the info there.
Glad to hear yours aren't being affected! My star seller is dropping by the minute with these "Pre-Transit" but already actually delivered orders! I have no confidence that even if they address the issue going forward that there is any way to restore my Star Seller.
So weird (but this is Etsy) that it is penalizing some star sellers, but not others.
Everything I've shipped since March 1st shows pre-transit on completed orders AND on the downloaded star seller tracking download.
As a result, my shipping is currently showing as only 96%. After shipping today and until they fix their bug, I fully expect this percentage to go even lower each day.
I do use integrated Pirateship and have always achieved 100% shipping previously.
There appears to be two interrelated issues: label showing Pre-Transit (but Etsy is picking up that the order has a tracking number) and label showing Pre—Transit AND star seller database showing that there is no tracking number associated with the order. I currently have two in the second category and it is affecting my star seller rating because the Star Seller tracker is not picking up the tracking number even though I can clearly see the number showing on my completed order page. Hope that makes sense.
I have over 50 orders like this. Some are really large over $250 which makes me very nervous
I contacted support and I am paraphrasing as this is not a direct quote
After checking with our team, there's an on-going issue with the tracking updates we're getting from USPS. But rest assured our team is fully aware of this and they're working on resolving this problem. Once resolved, you should see all of the orders affected have an update on their tracking status which will not affect star seller
As for the case system, you can reach us anytime if you have a dispute with the orders affected .
I really do not like this because there will be sellers caught up in this nightmare which the seller has no control over. It is a shame that sellers will have fight for their return funds if they are affected by this. After all I it a BOT who makes the final decision and I bet my weeks sales they bots are not programed to deal with this mess of pre-transit orders
This is just me, but since the packages actually do have tracking that shows information and a lot of the packages have actually been delivered, I don’t see that it should be a big deal as far as customers go.
I doubt most people even realize there is an issue and if they did I bet most people wouldn’t think oh hey I see there’s a glitch let me use this to get my money back.
@cutebutton I might have agreed with you before Etsy started bot refunding buyers who open cases.
If you add this new "permanent pre-transit" wrinkle to the mythical 48 hour review period for a buyer and seller to work out a shipping snafu, you are looking at sellers getting smacked by Etsy twice. You would think since Etsy are such sticklers on shipping tracking/delivery metrics they could get their own ducks in a row. Lol.
The discrepancy probably won't cause them to open cases, but it may complicate one of those situations where USPS says an order is delivered and Etsy says "pre-transit".
There are already snafus with buyers claiming orders that say delivered were not; now Etsy might look at these new problems and just hit the bot refund button.
I dropped two items for shipping via Media Mail on February 28th at the local Post Office at the same time. One is out for delivery today. The other remains listed as Pre-Transit. CRAZY!
I've had 9 packages that show as "pre-transit" when some are already delivered. Those nine are all counting against my star seller now and I'm creeping towards below the 95%. Very frustrating when I've never once sent anything without tracking or late, ever. I hope Etsy can figure this out.
Some in the threads say this issue shouldn't change star seller, for me personally it shows those 9 as not shipped on time and without a tracking number which isn't true. Some are already delivered and all have tracking. But are stuck in "pre-transit" status on Etsy
Yes, I currently have 12 orders since March 1 that are affecting my star seller stats — these were shipped on time and some have been delivered, but all say pre-transit and "missing tracking info" for star seller. I have always had 100% shipping and am now sitting at 96%. Very frustrating when I've done nothing wrong!
