I just did a search for Vintage Austria Earrings Green, and you know what I got? Bowls and vases in blue and red, clothes dress and blouses in white, glass trays and a few vintage brooches.... then a pair of green earrings showed up amongst other items and colors. Very few Vintage Austria Earrings in Green (fyi these are not rare).

SEARCH DOESN'T WORK!

when I search labradorite pendants I get a ton for less then $20 effectively putting me out of business unless I lower my prices drastically

Re: Etsy Search Still Broken?

YES! This is true with my jewelry also. They push the cheap stuff first as they think it will sell faster. It does not take into account that all items are not equal. Quality is never figured into the equation! If my necklaces were mass produced in China and made of cheap plastic pearls instead of handmade with the high-quality Swarovski pearls I use, I could sell them cheaper. All pearl necklaces are not the same and high-quality gemstones will cost more than low quality or imitation ones.

Re: Etsy Search Still Broken?

I think there's a weird test on tags going on. I just notice it in most of my listings. My tags are completely gone and now I have "etsy tag" instead. 95% of them are totally irrelevant. To be more clear, I sell prints for kids and now I have elephants tagged as penguins, giraffes, canvas, not matching color & style and even other shop names...

Re: Etsy Search Still Broken?

I started asking what was up with my vintage store listings back in January of last year.

They still are not being placed where they should be, code is wonky.

Its still broke.

Re: Etsy Search Still Broken?

It happens to us for a while now each and every time we search on a particular item.

No matter how detailed or not detailed we choose the search words, select a category (for example clothing) and other specifics (like vintage).

The search results come with a lot of non related items.

Searching on Etsy has become more complicated any way with 'Categories' and 'Filters' options on different places at the page.

We used to search for a lot of different items on Etsy; out of curiosity, to learn about items or for personal purchase.

Completely stopped doing this as the search results have become a dense jungle.

At the same time we believe that the way search on Etsy is functioning now has negatively affected our views and sales.

Sales have dropped dramatically since early 2023.

We also noticed that our items don't show up in Google results anymore, also since early 2023.

Until that early 2023, if you Googled on for example "Jean Varon", with or without adding: + dress, the first Google results page would be flooded with items from Etsy. Now it's only 2 or 3, while there are numerous on Etsy.
Also, we don't see any of our Jean Varon dresses in the Google results.

On top of this, the new listing template doesn't show anymore what your listing title looks like on Google.

With regards,

Substitute Studio

Re: Etsy Search Still Broken?

I entered "Simplicity 2344" - I always search for sewing patterns for variety and price comparisons while posting.

What I got right off the bat:

First row - An infringing "The Who" pin; a Mookite Point #6; Simplicity 2344; Simplicty 2344 (a different shop).

The rest of the page is filled with other sewing patterns - most not the same pattern company, most not the pattern number I want.

I actually think this is an improvement from what I used to get, which was row after row of POD t shirts that had nothing at all to do with what I was searching for.

But yes, Etsy search couldn't suck harder on the suckiest day of its' life with an automatic sucking machine.

I just want EXACT matches for the pattern I'm looking for, not random IP infringing trash. They must spend an aweful lot on ads!
