Etsy Error in cancelling an order

I cancelled an order yesterday BUT the message I received was "oops - we are having issues with this - if the order wasn't cancelled - contact the help desk.

So the order was still opened this morning but the funds were removed from my account.

I contacted the help desk and they said - yes the buyer did get the refund.  BUT they expect me to provide my account number and all sorts of information about my shop!  HONESTLY - WHY?  Is this a scam?  Why do I have to provide my bank information when all I need is the order to be removed?  Etsy sends me funds 2 or 3 times a week.  So I asked to speak with a manager - guess what - I was told that the manager will ask me for the same information about my bank account!  I kept asking for a manager and was told they will give me the same information - I must have asked to speak with a manager 15 times.  Finally a manager will contact me by email.

What is very upsetting is that this was an Etsy error and I'm having to provide all this banking information when they have that already.

I'm so upset - this is the  busiest time of the year and I'm having to deal with Etsy's error - I'm wasting my time trying to clean up an error when I could be working in my shop. I'm very upset.

They always ask for the last 4 digits of your card & account for verification. They do not know it is you they are speaking with, they can not see you.

There have been too many scams and hackers, this is to make sure it is you logged in

That's not the point - the refund was given to the customer - all they have to do is remove the order.  No banking is needed - they took the money back from me.

Re: Etsy Error in cancelling an order

Sometimes there are blips on Etsy. I've noticed quite a few lately. Makes me think it's just a busy time. Try going back into the order and marking it complete at another point in time.

Re: Etsy Error in cancelling an order

Legitimate orders aren't removed. They are moved into the Completed orders folder. They will show 'refunded' if they were cancelled and refunded.
