Etsy has EXPIRED 7 pages of my listings ALL at once on April 1st. I HAVE NEVER posted 7 pages like that on a single day and Etsy expired them. I only post several daily and I check for them EVERYDAY. I manually list them again or not. I know that they are not expired. When I sell 4 items Etsy cuts me off for the rest of the week. We already do not have the opportunity to sell much and then Etsy commits this error???? Get a grip Etsy. It is about time.
Not an error. You were sent an email notification. Many old listings with either not expiring or auto renewing.
This forum is useless. Your answer is useless to my case. My listings are all to be renewed manually and NO they( 280 listings) were not going to expire all on the 1st. NO WAY. Also we did not receive ANY E-mail)
@pixelfusiongraphics „My listings are all to be renewed manually.“
This has nothing to do with your renewal settings.
If your listings do not expire as expected, there is nothing to renew. Neither automatically nor manually.
You may not have received the email or you may have accidentally deleted it without reading it, but the fact that Etsy manually expired your listings on April 1st is a good indicator that they were affected.
I've been with Etsy over 12 years and this is a first for my shop. Not sure if you are saying go ahead and renew those listing that got turned to manual renew and then I will not get charged the .20 if within the 4 months or not. Obviously, a glitch. Has Etsy found the root problem or are we going to be looking at this mistake for a while. I've been activated some that went inactive when I didn't inactivate so that's costing me and then I see I now have 65 listings that have gone expired when they were on auto renew but now are switched to manual. I see some of the comments but not sure what it most time and cost effective.
I should probably put this out there as a new message but really don't even know how to do that. Haven't had a problem like this before. Went thru the chat and they have moved it on to a specialist but in the meantime a weekend coming up and a lot of unlisted items.
If you renew those listings, yes you'll be charged a 20 cent listing fee.
What wasn't being charged was the 20 cent renew fees where they were renewed multiple times over the last few years (or ever how long this has been happening.)
Lots more info on these 2 threads.

Hi all, I’m Amanda and I am a Product Marketing Manager at Etsy. Our Forums Team let us know of your concerns and I’d like to offer some follow up information.
I can confirm that the email is legitimate. We recently uncovered a bug that kept some listings from expiring every four months as they should. Impacted listings were acting as normal otherwise (appearing in search, active, etc), they just were not expiring on the normal schedule. We reached out to impacted sellers today via email to let them know we will manually expire those listings, and that they won’t be charged for the missed renewal fees. To keep your listings active, you can renew your listings ahead of the manual expiration on April 1.
@GrumpyBearSigns It's not a glitch. For years there have been issues with listings not expiring properly. Sellers were having issues. Etsy finally fixed the problem. My understanding is an email went out to all those affected by this.
I suggest looking for the email or look at the link posted above.
@GrumpyBearSigns Etsy finally dealt with the problem of listings not expiring. You were lucky to get away with not paying listing fees in the past on these affected listings and now you can decide whether you want to continue listing them or not. Many are choosing to drop listings that have failed to sell for years. Activate as many or as few as you want, all at once or daily doesn’t really matter.
This happened to 100 of my listings today. I have sold many of those listings before and one of them I know I listed less than 3 months ago. Plus I have my items on auto renew and now they are set to manual renew so that's going to take awhile to go in and fix 100 listings.
You can bulk editing renewal options in a few clicks vs doing them 1 by 1.
Just go to listing manager expired and select the listing's you want to change to auto click editing options up top and renewal options is one of the editing options.
There has been a long-time glitch whereby some listings did not expire when they should have done. They just remained active for weeks, months or even years!
Etsy have now fixed the glitch and all such listings were manually expired on April 1st -- so you will need to renew them
Etsy sent an email out about it a couple of weeks or so ago and there were threads in the forums at the time.
Just be thankful they are not charging you the back fees for all the time they have been active.
Didn't get the email and I have that notification marked.
I didn't get the email either although I suspected this was an issue because when I would deactivate listings I would have to pay to renew when they were listings that said they renewed less than 3 months ago. But nothing I could do.
Well I don’t appear to have had that email and 125 of my listings were expired on the 1st but we carry on trying our best to make sense of it and adapt to the ever changing marketplace!
So we have to renew...and they are not going to charge us?
Yes, Etsy is going to charge you when you renew those listings.
Etsy is NOT going to go back and charge you for all those listings that renewed that you were "not" charged for.
Did you read the info above?
"We reached out to impacted sellers today via email to let them know we will manually expire those listings, and that they won’t be charged for the missed renewal fees."
ok, I guess disregard my post of a few minutes ago. Always something...
I spent every day since the email on 3/24th and edited my most expensive listings and items in carts to manual to spread out the 843 listening's I had impacted, literally spent HOURS doing that, and they all went away anyway. I would have been better off not investing my time in editing those listings to manual.
@CatherinesAtticFinds You didn't have to spend hours doing it.
There is a bulk editing option, with the following features:
Etsy Help Center Article:
Can I Create or Edit Multiple Listings at Once?
To edit multiple listings at once:
came to check the forums because the same thing just happened to me lol
Another good reason to at least glance at the Forum every day or so.
Forewarned is forearmed.
I had about 30 listings removed for expired renew....I didn't get any email. So now Im renewing 30 listings. Yikes.
For anyone who has trouble with getting timely email notifications (whether Etsy sent them and they never made it, or they just never sent it) - it may be a good idea to check into the seller forums weekly to see those same announcements posted by Etsy here. If Etsy doesn't share it here, another seller will.
Etsy fixed a bug that allowed some listings to live forever. Until the bug was fixed, it was a benefit - allowing listings to live beyond the 4-month period.
To bulk edit renewal options ... in your listings page, click on the square on the left hand corner and select all listings or all the listings on that page. Then click on edit options and select renewal options. You can set all the listings in the group to automatic or manual.
Etsy set all the 'live forever' listings to expire April 1st and on April 2nd they expired. You can renew them at your convenience to avoid a big fee all at once.
Do a happy dance about all the free time those listings got ... and take a breath. Etsy fixed an error and there really is no negative impact.
