Etsy Ads turned on without consent - Financial & Legal liability

For those who are not aware, forum reports have been coming in for the last month from sellers who have had Etsy Ads turned on without their consent. 

Etsy is aware and continues to issue refunds, yet the problem persists. How many sellers out there are not aware it has happened to them? I wonder how the Etsy financial and legal liability will be determined when the dust settles.

I am still waiting to hear back after contacting Etsy on Friday as An Ad campaign was started without my consent on Thurs eve and I have been charged. The customer support or lack of it is ridiculous when the expect us to jump through so many hoops ourselves!

I contacted Etsy support, via chat, when I realized that Etsy ads had been turned on without my permission. They looked into it briefly and the response I received was [This content has been removed by Moderation. We ask that you please review Section 1, Item 1 of our Community Policies before posting in the Forums.]  
My next response was [Removed] So basically I'm being told that I'm lying.
Etsy's next response was [Removed]

Obviously my biggest issue with this is that Etsy accessed and changed my account settings WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!

I've just checked mine, been put on today for no reason what so ever, checked my emails as we used to periodically turn them on, and no email, done it on the sly for sure. Will find out tomorrow who to report it too, as this is business interference
