Estimated Delivery Date is not available when using Create Custom Order in Etsy messages, which negates Purchase Protection for the seller.
After having a customer open a Purchase Protection case last week due to USPS losing the package, I was informed by Etsy that I wasn't covered because I didn't include an Estimated Delivery Date (EDD) on the order, even though every other requirement for Purchase Protection was met.
Here's the issue: I created the order through Etsy messages as a Create Custom Order, and there is nowhere in that form to add a shipping profile, which is what I assume generates the EDD. You can only manually add the processing time and the shipping fee, not an EDD or a shipping profile.
This is a loophole that the seller has absolutely no knowledge of beforehand, no control over and no way of fixing.
