I received an email from Etsy Support that stated they needed my email address to send me my orders because the server was down. I'm thinking it's bogus. Has anyone else received this message today (7.31.23)? I would assume I wouldn't be able to list which is what I was doing when I received the message. The next message stated the order was sent to my email....it wasn't. So, not sure what this is all about.
sounds like a scam
Uh, if their server was down, the website would be too. And Etsy will simply wait until the server was back up to notify you of a sale. Etsy is messaging you to ask for an email address they already have? How else would the message get to you in the first place if they didn't have your email?
Not mocking you, pissed at the F-ing scammers.
Online scams are running rampant right now. I’ve put clues to the latest scam on top. This list also contains clues to other common online scams. Hopefully it will help you and other sellers. Once you hit more than 2 red flags, shut down the conversation.

that is like someone calling me and then asking me what my phone number is.
or knocking on my front door and asking me where i live.
Total scam. It doesn't make sense. They will try ANYTHING to trick you.
Mark it as spam and ignore. Do not engage on any level.
Today the banner on my home page said “welcome back”. I had been there like 7 hours prior and multiple times a day since 2016. Wouldn’t it be great if the banner said “learn how to avoid phishing scams”? My day job is so analog we still use papyrus. Even we have a way to address these scams with IT and I often have to do training on this very subject. This is really something Etsy needs to start to address.
This is just going from bad to worse. Seriously, how hard is it for Etsy to put an announcement on the dashboard!!
Holey cow.
@bradgoodell is just one slayer against the whole scammer vampire demon empire. They cannot provide 100% of Etsy’s cyber security. Etsy needs to put them on the payroll and/or address this.
@SperryGoodEmporium Don't give your email address out it's a scam. Etsy has your email. The server status history does not indicate that Etsy server is or was down on 7/31. Plus many sellers would be in the forums reporting issues.
While a pinned announcement would be helpful, not everyone reads the forums.
In fact, not everyone looks at their dashboard.
What REALLY needs to be done is on Etsy's security end.
