Hi all,
I know this question has been asked before, but I can't find anything useful at all. The highest I can go is support, which is absolute garbage honestly and they don't respond at all (to my other account btw, not this).
I was trying to change bank country while chatting with a live agent, she told me to wait a bit and then boom... I couldn't get to live chat anymore at all, nothing nothing, she also didn't respond. Then I texted them (I HAD TO TEXT THEM FIRST) what was happening and wanted my bank country changed. They told me (after ofc I texted them because it would hurt them to send a notification or something) that my account got a security lock for some reason, for my "protection"
Anyways, further, then in 2 days I finally got the response that the account was locked due to security blah blah and I have to send them some info to prove ownership of the account (last 4 digits of CC and banks and so on... I think it's standard procedure) and after I sent it to them... Nothing. Absolute blackness. I've created 3 additional requests via this link: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000108008#issue_account_ato_password but no response to either of those at all again.
I am not sure what to do now, my account is completely locked "You may be unable to access your account. Learn more." and at this point I'm really frustrated. While I know this is totally fine by ETSY, I'm not sure what could happen to my second account if the first one got a security lock.
In my honest opinion, they should change the slogan "Keep Commerce Human" to something more realistic, like "Get s*** on by our support".
I know I sound pissed off at this point because I am. I can't withdraw any money on ETSY, my listings are probably disabled, my ADS money went down the toilet now and I'm pretty sure there will be no compensation for all the possible sales I could make and all the extra charges that they have caused me.
Any experience with this, anyone? How can I escalate this issue over support? I thought I could make a little "career" someday with regular income on ETSY, but when they pull off stuff like this... It's unbearable. I know some people who live off ETSY and they can pull off the same stuff on them. Then what?
Apparently, there was nothing wrong after all, it was suspicious activity, even tho based on my history, there was no suspicious activity and fact is that support REALLY takes time on this. I found a way to write to a live agent yesterday and she escalated my issue and it got fixed in 24 hours. Still too much work for something that ETSY did, but I'll take it.
Thanks foryour support everyone, I'm just glad I got my shop back now.
@ChillyHome: There are several issues possibly at play here - and yes, support should be better and more communicative but that is an entire topic in itself.
You are hiding this shop's location so do not know if this applies to your situation, but generally speaking a shop cannot change their banking country https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015775908-How-to-Update-and-Verify-Your-Bank-Account-for-...
However a few things that are not helping your cause. You admit you have another shop but you are not disclosing your other shop(s) in the public profile as required. Is this also true in the other shop? Etsy seems to be cracking down on technical violations. If other posts are to be believed support to shops that (appear to) break the rules may be deprioritized.
Perhaps one of the Etsy moderators will see your thread and forward your issue on to the appropriate team.
Hi, thank you for yall answers. I've been over this on Reddit already.
"If your bank country is currently within the Eurozone and you receive Euro payouts, and you want to update to another bank account held within the Eurozone, we can update your bank country for you."
I live in Slovenia and wanted to change to Lithuania, which are both inside EuroZone, so I am eligible to change it.
The thing about disclosing my shops is that I can't disclose this shop on my main, because I got no more access to main shop obviously and I don't have to specify my main shop on this account since the main account technically doesn't exist right now (its disabled and people can't see it).
So, all per rules, nothing irregular. But I understand where the concern comes from. Anyways, they disabled my account for security due to "because we've detected a suspicious login" which is stupid, since I login all from same country. I don't understand where that came from.
Tnx for reply
You cannot change your banking country.
What do you mean you were trying to change "bank country"? That is only allowed within the EU. Looking at your shop, it has zero information. What country are you in? What country were you trying to change to?
Why not just start a new shop as this one has zero sales?
And how were you "texting" etsy? There is on availability to do so. Are you sure you weren't scammed or hacked?
Please read other replies, I forgot to add some information. I wasn't scammed or hacked. I work in IT and I know scams pretty well. I don't open suspicious links. The time that they restricted my account I was talking to ETSY live agent and I think that was live agent that actually did that... She stopped replying and that was it.
Since everyone is asking about that "bank country" thingy and all everyone sees is that, I live in Slovenia, I wanted to change to Lithuania (Revolut), so I fall inside EuroZone. I can change my bank country. This is not the issue. Issue is "because we've detected a suspicious login"
trying to change bank, to another country, without the required tax ID for that country, is 100% suspicious activity, it's why the EU implemented DAC7, and forced platforms to obtain a sellers tax ID for the country their bank is in, for Lithuania, that is your asm. k.
...........
You can't change bank country by itself, the facility is there, for when you move country.
From Etsy .........
If you’re in the eurozone
If your current bank account is located in the eurozone of Europe and you’re moving to another country within the eurozone, contact us for help updating your bank to the new country.#
........
If you are not moving country, you can't change the bank to another country, even if it is the eurozone
To change to a Lithuanian bank account, you need to make sure all the new ID matches the name you originally set up on the account, and all your ID is valid for your new country
so a Lithuanian bank account, needs a Lithuanian tax ID etc
update all your new
photo ID (such as drivers licence)
tax Number
Address id
for your new country you live in -

Thanks foryour support everyone, I'm just glad I got my shop back now.
My situation is already tragic. I have always received transfers from Etsy without problems.
Country Italy.
Bank Fineko.
Deposits from December 23 and 30 have still not been received. The bank asks for a transaction number, but Etsy does not provide it. The money has not been returned to the Etsy account either. No help from support in the chat, except for "look carefully at the account statement" or "wait, we will look in 90 days".
In the meantime, orders are coming. On January 20, I decided to change the account number to an account in another bank. On January 21, a few cents were received in the new account for the account confirmation operation. BUT. Instead of the account confirmation field, I have the message "come back later". On January 27, they ask me to change the new account again and send a few cents again for verification. This money comes, but again the account confirmation field is not active. Support replies that on Monday, if the situation does not change, I should contact the chat again. Meanwhile, I have to cancel some orders, because I can no longer produce products, pay for large international parcels and not receive money for them. Monday has come, I contact the chat again. Thanggoulal Lunkim answers me and writes something about the Internet connection and other things that are not related to the question. I demand that they reread my request and answer on the merits. He (or she) apologizes, promises to transfer me to a specialist (and he, apparently, is not a specialist, but a cleaner or was just passing by). There is no specialist, the chat is silent all day, my messages are ignored.
Result. No money for December, no help.
For 14 days they cannot explain to me what the problem is with changing the account.
The chat is silent.
Customers are waiting.
Can someone give advice on how to work with such a disregard for sellers, and in this case, for buyers? We have an intermediary marketplace who receives a commission. Why does he refuse to provide assistance?
P.S. Now I have been blocked from posting messages on the forum!
