I was wondering when did Etsy change the chat with support to requiring an email which it says will be shared with 3rd party vendors? Is this new or did I never notice since I haven't used this in a very long time?
Also, sales seem to have fallen off a cliff the past 3 days....anyone else and any insight as to what Etsy might be doing other than the square pics and adding the not wanted or needed tool to allow customers to make a bid on a listing?
Have a great day!
I don't know when they changed it because I have not used chat in a long time but I'm getting the same notice when I click the chat icon. When you chat with someone they are 3rd party contractors and not Etsy employees.
Mine never connects and just buffers, when I exit it asks if I am SURE I want to end the chat.
I don't know when it changed, but it is consistent with Chat on at least some other sites. Since those other sites have better customer service than Etsy, I've always assumed it was so they knew how to contact you if the Chat got dropped.
I am currently stuck in Chat with no way to end it! Can't get anyone to answer me after they said they would switch me over to a specialist team.
There should be a downward pointing arrow at the bottom of the box. Clicking it collapses the chat box.
@FLcowgirls - click the down arrow. I had the same problem.
It does collapse the box, but when you click on it the chat again the old chat is still there with no way to start a new one
Just delete that message and start your new one. I think after a few minutes it clears on its own.
I tried restarting my computer and that didn't clear it. I don't see a way to delete it.
Don't nobody got the time for the time waste that is chat.
Use the email link instead, be clear about your problem, include screenshots of your issues, SEND and reply to the automatic email you receive. Keep replying to that same email until you get a real person responding to your issue.
The days it takes to get to the end result will likely be the same BUT you didn't waste all that time & aggravation talking to chat.
Good Luck!
Agree very much. Etsy chat is frankly just there to placate sellers.
"old" chat rep also asked for your shop name and email so that hasn't changed, it is a third party vendor. updated chat graphic? not something that sellers were clamoring for I'm sure....meanwhile resellers still clog search-would love to know how much of our fees are dedicated to removing them vs. constant unwanted "updates".
My Chat agent didn't transfer me, and it has left me in this chat box. I called Help (didn't know we could call any more) and got someone to help but they can't clear my chat either. Won't be using Chat any more(can't anyway right now)
How did you call help?
@FLcowgirls: "I called Help ..." If you called a number you found on the internet you have connected with a scammer - Etsy DOES NOT have a published phone number or eMail address for customer service.
If you provided the people you called with any login or personal or financial information you need to immediately go into self-protective mode and change your password, etc.
I wonder if they're employing a service like who hosts the forums?
Everyone, I went thru help support and it was not a scammer. I used my previous help support requests and I was able to find an option to either Chat (which didn't work) or ask for a call back per phone which I used. I received a call back in less than a minute. The issue has finally been corrected.
