I had started my shop with maidenandthemachine.etsy.com but then changed it to matmcreations.etsy.com but if I type in either of those my page comes up. I don't want maidenandthemachine.etsy.com to be able to be used anymore as I want to branch that into it's own shop. How can I fix this?
You can't... when I opened this shop in 2010, my shop user name was "enchantingadornments". I changed my shop name to what it currently is several years ago and both enchantingadornments.etsy.com and autumnhollowstudio.etsy.com will take you to my shop.
My account user name is still enchantingadornments - but my shop ID is autumnhollowstudio. User ID can't be changed, but the shop name can.
Do you think deleting the account will rectify this issue?
@MatMCreations noooo, don't delete anything lol. I know it's mildly annoying to have to deal with this, but the positive side to this is that any "old" links will work if they have been shared anywhere by other people. It's a good thing that the links will redirect.
If I type my former shop name in it still goes to my current shop name and it has been over 7 years since I changed the name. My user name is something entirely different than either shop name I have used, so that is not a factor.
Incidentally, if it is your intention to use the maidenandthemachine name for another shop you will not be able to. Once a name has been used it can never be used again, even by you.
