I have a very new store. In my readings before opening my Etsy store, I came across many different opinions about topics like IP addresses, using the same computer, and the same Wi-Fi, etc. To prevent any potential issues like moving or the risk of the computer breaking down, even though I’m personally in the U.S., I opened and am managing my store through a VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server) server within the U.S.
My question is: Does using a VDS server have any negative impact on my Etsy store, or does Etsy have any specific negative stance toward this?
If anyone has information, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share it. Thank you."
Giving you a Bump. I don't know the answer, sorry; and have no idea what that is.
VPN?
virtual Dedicated servers, they are often used by phishing sites, I would imagine that it may affect your shop as the seller could be anywhere
@ArwensSpark: Not sure that Etsy has a specific stance on Virtual Dedicated Servers, and whether or not it will negatively affect you probably depends on your specific setup. The biggest things to look out for is if you are using a shared IP address and if the fingerprinting of your browser might be interpreted as a web scrapper.
I'm not familiar with how VDN's work, but I know using a VPN will cause issues. So if it works similarly, then you are likely to have problems. Etsy does not like you hiding where you are, even if you are in the US and it routes through the US, there are reasons why these securities are in place.
