Disappearing Item Tags Still happening

I just went in to look at some of my listings yesterday and have found several that the tags have simply vanished from. This is annoying to say the least, and not the first time it's happened. I don't have the time to keep checking 200+ listings all the time to make sure the tags haven't randomly vanished AGAIN. This was in Edit mode when editing listings. Listings that previously had tags had none. I replaced the missing tags, but this isn't the first time I've had tags vanish off listings.

My post was on a thread that was a few months old. Etsy's solution? Close the thread.

That doesn't solve the ongoing problem of tags vanishing. This has been going on for a while and it doesn't look like the problem is being addressed. I am wondering if it may be a database issue on Etsy's end? Data corruption, or maybe needing to restore from backups due to a problem, where the backups were older and didn't contain tags? I have no idea, but I'm getting tired of having things vanish off listings.

This just bugs me, why do they do that, it is no help at all to the poster, in this case, you. I haven't had tags vanishing, that I know of but maybe others have.

I don't understand why Tags are missing. Are you by chance, using the App?  I remember seeing something about Tags dropping off, and you're right; no one has time to keep checking their listings, to make sure nothing changes.  Have you found when they drop off, they come back after a while?

Also, when a Thread is just a few months old, it isn't a zombie Thread, so I don't understand when those are closed. It seems like if you can take the time to close a Thread, why not try to get assistance for the OP (at least, that's the way I see it).

No, I don't use any apps. My phone is old and can only hold 1 or 2 apps on it at a time LOL

Etsy has been rewriting our tags, or at least adding their own tags, to our listings for quite a while now.  You will see many that are longer than the 20-character limit.  It seems tags in general are an archaic method that only Etsy still uses.  I, for one, would love to see tags disappear ... I hate doing them, let alone 13 of them!  Perhaps with Etsy adding their own tags, maybe they will eventually do away with tags all together and no longer require them on the seller listing page.  One can only hope so anyway.  @LauriesHomestead your shop just made me hungry, LOL ... I love organic foods!

Feel free to order some! lol. I'm not sure what tags are even for. I had thought they would help improve search results but I've heard they don't? If so, what are they even for?

On the actual listing form itself on your Seller Dashboard, or on a finished listing in your shop like a customer would?

It has been months since I could see a listing's tags as the seller wrote them. Even though shopper's can't see them, they should still be in your actual listing.

What you see as a shopper are AI generated tags that Etsy populates.

I had posted that this was in shop owner listing editing mode. I was editing listings to make some change and noticed when I got to the tag area they were empty, and ll previous tags I had in there were gone. But only on some listings.

@LauriesHomestead -- same happened to me one time with getveal.  do you use getvela or other bulk editing program?

If you or someone you know is good with Excel you can at least automate the checking. Periodically download your listings csv file and check it against the previous download. Excel has a function where you can compare the contents of one column with another and find the exceptions.

I know you shouldn't have to do this, but maybe this can make it a bit more efficient.
