We maintain an auto reply so every message that goes through our Etsy inbox receives an immediate reply... the message in question did not go through the inbox and was found in gmail account from which we responded to it... still got counted against our star seller status... THIS IS AN ALGORITHM ERROR... for which we have lost our star seller status... we are currently shopping for another forum to sell on... this has occurred too many times to count... No help from Etsy again... math doesn't make sense... 1 out of 12 messages is not 92%... Customer service is a joke!!!

@GhostownBoutique: eMails do not count for Star Seller, only Etsy messages (aka Convos). Did you look at the applicable CSV file to see which messages Etsy thinks you did not answer? And were all 12 of the messages the first message of a new thread?
Why would you leave Etsy just because of that stupid little purple star!? It has a set of rules and anything that occurs outside of them gets dinged. It is a mug's game!!
You are right... we just gave it a serious shot and it is disappointing to feel as though some bot took something you worked hard for...
We've been on here for 12 years and admittedly we haven't always been consistent with updating our inventory but we take pride in our stats / customer service...
11/12 = 0.916 (repeating) * 100 = 91.6%
Etsy only uses whole numbers, so it rounds to 92%. So yup, missing 1 out of 12 (11 correct) does equal 92% correct. Pull your CVS and see what message you missed. Then you can determine what happened, so in the future you can avoid it.
Oh we also sell on Shopify, but it's a lot of work to drive traffic there. With vintage, maybe eBay?
Thank you for the advice. The problem is that the message that we got dinged for never even made it to our Etsy message box. I had to check check my Gmail in order to find it otherwise in order to find it. Otherwise I would’ve missed it all together. This has been happening from time to time… That’s why I have my auto reply turned on.
