Did I miss something

I have noticed that the word " Amazonite " does not come up in my tag words. After looking at other Amazonite listings through other shops, it doesn't come up in anyone's tags. Did I miss something about Amazonite?

My amazonite listings are still showing up in search results (website and app) so I'm not going to worry about it. I do find it curious though. Maybe they just ran out of tag space when they added all the extra 'gift' related tags and it's there but not displayed.

As noted above, they have also removed all "amazon-" words from the autocomplete suggestions.

@cindylouwho2 oh that's odd. I wonder why they are suppressing that word in search then. Perhaps an IP issue? I saw you said that eBay is still coming up in suggestions so it's even more confusing.

It's a shame they can't suppress use of the word 'Etsy' in (screen) usernames!!

I've been thinking about this, and I suspect the key is that the autocomplete was removed, as @Former_Member discovered. That's a manual decision by Etsy, usually. 

And it is not just the autocomplete for "amazonite" - anything with "amazon" is gone. There is no autocomplete for amazon rainforest, amazon spreadsheet, "how to sell on amazon" (but "how to sell on eBay"  and of course Etsy, are still autocomplete options). 

Tags don't need to be shown on the page to be used by the algorithm; Etsy only started doing that in 2009 or so for SEO reasons. They continue to use tags like this because they generate Market pages, and those rank well for Etsy on Google, and they tend to convert better than individual listing pages on Google. There is no amazonite Market page on Google for Etsy, nor do the other searches show up either. 

So for some reason we do not know, Etsy does not want amazon showing up as a suggested search or a Market page. It's not about gemstones, but it might be about ecommerce marketplaces, since Walmart also does not show up, and products with Walmart in the title do not have Walmart in the tags. (Yes, there are vintage Walmart items on Etsy.) I just added Walmart to the tags on one of my listings to see what happens. Will report back!

UPDATE: my item shows up when Walmart is searched in my shop or on Etsy in general, but the tag doesn't show up when you view the listing's tag area. 

That may indicate that the tags are searchable even when Etsy is hiding them, but someone with an amazonite listing would have to test that, ideally in a new listing.

@cindylouwho2  I joked to myself last night 'maybe it's not the stone but the company' so it's funny now to see evidence in that direction.

Just tried Joannes, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, Target, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn and TJ Maxx, they're all come up in auto-complete suggestions. 

Wonder what they're up to...
