Deposit and Bank Account error.

Jump to solution

Greetings from Turkiye. I entered my bank account on Etsy but couldnt not receive the small deposit they had to send to verify. Afterwards, my account could not be verified and I was asked for bank documents. I submitted the requested document but it was not accepted. I can't get through. My orders are coming and they won't catch up if I don't get the money inside. I hope I find someone who can help.

@MadebyEnes: This is a seller peer to peer forum, and should not be considered a way to contact Etsy, if that is your hope (although Etsy does sometimes read and reply to posts).

You can open a support ticket through Dashboard > Community & Help > Contact Us

Yes, etsy emailed me "If you still need support, please reply to this thread with requested information". However, "requested information" is not written in the message...

@MadebyEnes As a new Seller, it is not unusual for Etsy to ask for additional/updated/clearer copies of documentation after you make your first Sale/s. This is because the initial verification is conducted by "automation" but, after the initial Sales, your documentation is double checked.

As you are in Turkey, a few things which may be happening could be

1) The details on your Account and Documentation have to match exactly, including your Name

2) The Etsy system does not recognize the "special characters" of the Turkish Alphabet. If your Documentation or Name contain any Turkish Characters, the documentation verification may fail.

3) The Bank Account must be in your Name, not a joint name or Company Name. The Address must be in Turkey.

4) Your own Address must match that on the "Documentation".

5) If you used your Kimlik as ID the system may not be matching this with your other documentation due to the use of "Special Characters"

If the issue is being caused by the "Special Characters", you will need to contact Etsy Support.

The problem may be caused by special characters. Apart from that, yes, the bank paper I sent contains Turkish characters. Same with my identity. But I shouldn't be the only Turk to have this problem. There are many Turkish users, but no one has even opened such a topic. Also, I am no longer able to upload documents. This time it refuses, saying that the document must be more than 10KB. Whereas the file I want to upload is almost 1MB . I'm about to go crazy.

@MadebyEnes Of course there are many Turkish Shops. But not all of them had an easy time verifying their Bank Details. There have been many instances in the pase where Turkish Sellers have had difficulty verifying their ID

This used to be the Checklist for reasons

  • You uploaded a non-Latin character ID.
  • The copy of your ID was blurry or otherwise did not clearly display your name, date of birth, and expiration date.
  • The ID was expired.
  • The information on the document did not correspond with the name provided on your Shop Payment Account.
  • The ID photo was edited, altered, or enhanced.
  • The ID type you selected did not match the ID type uploaded.
  • The ID issuing country did not match the country you selected as your residence country.
  • You uploaded an ID from a non-Etsy Payments country.
  • The uploaded copy of your ID wasn’t an accepted file t ype: JPE G or PNG.

As the process is largely automated these days, you should raise a Customer Support Ticket to request a real person looks at and matches your paperwork information.

@MadebyEnes One option you can do while you wait on Etsy is to find another shop that is in Turkey and convo them about how they got their bank information correctly done on Etsy.  Pick a shop that is obviously making sales.  A shop that doesn’t have any sales may not be able to help.

FIXED!

Had the same problem uploading my bank statement for a zillion times.....

______Your file must be over 10KB and in .jpg, .pdf, or .png format____________

It was 180 kB JPG just wouldn't budge.

Opened the file in Photoshop, resaved it as a PNG and what do you know. Off it flies, problem solved.
