Delivery address Issue /Etsy bug?

I've just experienced an issue with a buyer whose order was returned to me because 2 lines of his address were missing. The order cannot be delivered. The package has been returned and marked as "insufficient address".

I shipped to the address provided so I was a bit surprised and contacted my buyer to confirm that he had provided the correct address.

This is when we discovered that 2 lines are missing from the address showing on his order.
The address that I see on the Sold order page, the DELIVERY INFO tab and on the packing slip all have the same 4 lines of information (name, street, city, country).

The buyer however sees 6 lines in his account info and this extra info is essential for delivery.

At first I assumed buyer error but after responding to the buyer's help request, I noticed there was a longer fuller address showing to the right of our conversation THAT indeed showed all 6 lines rather than the 4 lines showing on the sold order page.
It's the ONLY place that I can see all that information.

I can only assume this is a bug.
I'm going to report it to Etsy and have instructed the buyer to do so as well but wondering if anyone else has noticed it?

Re: Delivery address Issue /Etsy bug?

many countries don't need full addresses, if they have a post(zip) code, and a house number, (and country if from overseas) it's enough

For Ireland, you just need the post(Eire) code, as they are different for each house

was there any required info missing?

Re: Delivery address Issue /Etsy bug?

Try reading my post again. I know there's a lot of info but I think a second slow reading might clear up your misunderstanding of the situation.  If not, I'll try to explain again.

Edited to add:  I thought it was clear that the package could not be delivered as addressed but perhaps not.  So I've edited my original post to note that the package could not be delivered without the missing 2 lines of info.

Re: Delivery address Issue /Etsy bug?

different things are required for different countries

for example .... I don't have a street name or number

I could put a city, but it's not needed

I could have 6 lines of address, or 4, but only 2 are actually needed

So I was wondering what vital information was missing?

I can't think of any country that needs 6 lines

Re: Delivery address Issue /Etsy bug?

The buyer is in Hong Kong in a large apartment complex.  The address on his order is missing the apartment number and building name.  Essentially the address is too generic and therefore his post office could not deliver it. It has been returned to me.

My concern is why does the sold order page show a truncated version of the address entered by the buyer while the help request page shows the entire address?

Re: Delivery address Issue /Etsy bug?

On the help request, the ship to, is not the address you shipped to,

What is on the label, is whatever you want it to be

I can see - shipped to - addresses on help requests for my pdf patterns, that were never shipped

Re: Delivery address Issue /Etsy bug?

The address showing on the help request is the full and complete address that the buyer claims he selected when ordering.

However on the sold order page the address shown to me is missing the apartment & building number.
