I have had two people try to purchase from my shop and when they add their credit card information, they are getting an error message.
My shop is new and I have had no sales to date. Can someone assist?
Thank you
Kelley
There's a 99.9% chance that this is a start to a SCAM to steal YOUR money.
If a buyer can't pay then there's nothing you can do and Etsy won't tell you why.
If a buyer claims they’re having trouble checking out from your shop, you can tell them they need to contact Etsy Support so they can review the issue they're having and provide assistance.
If a scam, the next thing is you'll get a message from some scammer pretending to be Etsy and stating YOU need to be verified and these crooks will ask for your email, then send you a QR code or a link to a FAKE Etsy site to enter your bank/cc info and when you do, they'll steal your money.
They might even ask you how much money is in your bank account or how much you can charge with your cc. Etsy does not care how much money is in your bank account or on a card.
If a message is from Etsy it will be in the FROM ETSY section, not there, then it's not Etsy (use a browser not the seller app).

Probably scammers wanting you to take your account off Etsy, by wanting your email. FYI I went and put an item in my cart and it went to the check out just fine. Scammers target new shops, also do not talk to Etsy that wants you to reverify your account or click on a QR code either, always look at the messages and verify that any message from Etsy is in "from Etsy" part of messages too.
I too, would be highly suspicious, considering the prevalence of scammers targeting new shops. Either mark as spam, or tell them to contact Etsy, since they handle all the financial information that you don't have access to. If they ask for your email, or attempt to purchase some other way off of Etsy, this would be confirmation it's a scam.
@BeeYOUtifulBags: IF the two messages were legitimate, there is nothing for a shop to do in a situation like this. You are not a party to the transaction until after Etsy and Etsy's payment processor have accepted the order and payment. Until then, the transaction is between the buyer and Etsy only.
But as others have mentioned, this is the start of a common scam attempted against Etsy sellers so be careful.
