Someone had to contact me through facebook as they were unable to buy an item from me on etsy, and the message option is not working either.
I tested it myself and message failed to send.
Is there a problem with my shop or a general technical issue??

It is normally a scam,
I have sent you a message to see if it works
and I have put a grumpy seagull (love them much more than the ones that scream on the roof opposite) in my basket, and went to checkout, I didn't buy, but I did get that far
........................................
....... edited to add - you say my message came through, so definitely treat the one that says it doesn't work, as a scammer
you should add your location to your shop, otherwise people who choose - UK only shops, yours is removed from the search
this is how to add it

Anyone who can't send you a message has been banned by Etsy. This is likely a scammer who is trying to get you to communicate (likely about money) off Etsy.
Thanks
I just messaged you. You don't ship to me but I was able to put an item in my cart. Likely the start of a scam or an issue on their end. I would let them know that they need to contact Etsy because there's nothing wrong with your shop or messaging.
Thanks
This is an active scammer. I get this stuff all the time on Facebook through Messenger. I don't even respond to them.

I recently opened up a shop. Buyer tried to purchase from my store. It said does not accept Mastercard? She kept trying it gave her a message. The message disappeared on her too. Till today she is unable to purchase anything from me. I received messaged from ppl saying to click on a link and someone can't purchase from me... Okay, so it's already too late to SPAM on my messages. The Message from sender disappeared.
That's a scammer.... and that's most likely why Etsy nuked them.
@ViyaRiss I see the MasterCard icon in your shop homepage so should be ok.
Scammers tend to target new shops.
Never click on links in emails or Etsy messages - they might go to a scam website.
