I just got a message from a customer who cannot purchase my item. They have tried several times and get the same error message each time. They sent me a screenshot of the error message:
“Uh oh! There’s something not quite right in the URL. Please check for any errors in the address bar and try again.”
For now I made them a custom listing to purchase, but I'm concerned this may be happening to other customers too. Has anyone else encountered this error recently or heard from customers who can't check out?
Hi! Just curious if this was resolved for you. I received a similar message for the first time today. Did the custom listing work? Have you received other orders since?
Thanks for replying. The custom listing worked and my customer used it to purchase the item. They had mentioned being confused and asked if the listing was available to purchase. I wonder if I am losing other sales from customers who don't feel like messaging to get the error sorted out.
When I contacted Etsy support they told me to have my customer restart their phone and clear their cache but I didn't want to bother them with additional tasks after the custom order went through successfully. I have received orders from other customers since this happened but none for the listing my customer was struggling with. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the forums in case this is happening to other buyers.
Thank you for posting about this. The custom listing worked for my customer as well, and I may not have thought of that option without seeing your post. They had previously tried 2 different listings from my shop without success. I have also received other orders since this issue, which is a relief.
I can not find any new threads, but I have lost customers now have another one trying to purchase 2 items in my shop in usa and gets an error message (Hmm. Something went wrong)
My customer received a message when trying to purchase an item:
Hi Linda, I'm attempting to purchase the George inaugural issue, but continue to get an error message (attached). Can you confirm if this is still available? Thank you! Lindsay
How to spot and report scams in Messages
If you get a suspicious message asking you to leave our site to share personal info or complete orders, make sure to mark it as spam. Keep in mind:
I am very concerned that I cannot contact an ETSY technical person to help me figure out what to do with my customer. What do I tell them to do?!?!?!? What have I done wrong if anything? I cannot find the answer in this entire website.
