Etsy prompted to me sign up for Etsy Plus, saying that I could use a custom domain. I paid the $10 and signed up. Now there is nowhere in settings to connect the domain. I emailed support, and the answer I received was some moron telling me that I don't have an Etsy store. Seriously? That's the response?
The next response was someone really preoccupied with me verifying my account for some reason. I know that the first priority of all support is to find a way to disqualify you from actually getting any support, but is this gaslighting normal with Etsy? I thought people liked it here?
I don't get it. Is doing the most basic of store edits normally this tedious and crappy?

@Former_Member: You do NOT need Etsy Plus to use a custom domain https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021664693-How-to-Redirect-Your-Domain-to-Your-Etsy-Shop?segment=selling I believe you are referring to "For sellers subscribed to Etsy Plus, we provide access to a discount on custom domains through our third party partner, Hover, which is an Internet domain name registration service." as explained in https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001735047?segment=selling
I don't know what it has to do with Etsy Plus (probably nothing - as stated above). You connect the domain to your Etsy shop - not Etsy to domain. To set up a redirect for your web domain you need to go to your domain provider/host.
I have 3 domains pointed to my Etsy store. The set-up is with the domain host not Etsy. Get with your domain host and ask them how to point (redirect) so when people type in the domain it goes to your Etsy store. It's just that simple. In this case you do not need Etsy Plus nor Etsy Pattern.
Gotcha, thank you for the responses. You're right, very simple. I've used many services over the years, and this is the first time I've ever heard "custom domain" to describe a URL redirect. By that same description, my facebook page can have a custom domain, but I doubt anyone would describe it that way. Just seems misleading to me. I appreciate the quick (and legitimate) responses here, much better than dealing with support. Thank you!
Is there a trick to get the redirect to work with https? I too signed up for Plus thinking this was going to solve my issue or open access to additional settings.
I have plenty of domains for various websites I run but when trying to redirect one to Etsy, 'https://mydomain.com' will not work - only 'http://mydomain.com' but I worry that people won't understand the difference. My domain provider says it is on Etsy's side.
When I type a link on something like social media, there should be no problem but say I put it on a business card, most people will just type it out and it defaults to https.
