I made a custom order with the shipping as 5-10 days. I went into the order right after to update it and accidentally updated the shipping to 1-2 days as I put in one of my presets without thinking as they wanted all this info for the shipping if I was going to save it. I didn't think twice about as I was talking to the buyer through the processes to let her know when to expect her order and what I was working on. I don't sell a lot on Etsy so the next time I go into the dash board and not just use the messenger on my phone I see that the order is late. I realize than what I did but since the buyer knows when the order is coming I don't think twice about it. Come the 1st of November and I don't get my star seller badge. I'm annoyed but think as soon as I send out this order I will call Etsy and let them know what happened and they can fix it. Well that was my second mistake. Come to find out after sitting on the call for 30 minutes they can't do anything because the order has already been shipped. I should have called before I shipped it. You would think with all the technology out there they could still update it or at least remove that order from my record so it would not affect my star seller status but no nothing they can do. I don't sell that much on Etsy so it will probably take the full three months for this blunder to come off my record. At that point my sales will have dropped and the holidays will have gone passed so no point of selling on Etsy anymore. All they want is your money anyways.
@StitchedByHeatherD: Almost everyone on this forum can sympathize with you but the reality is that Star Seller is very simplistic and binary - either you shipped your order on or before the scheduled ship by date which was on the order or you did not. Etsy has made it clear that they will not manually adjust Star Seller stats, and unfortunately in this case the "error" in the underlying data was your fault so I am sure that Etsy's position is that there is nothing to fix.
Of course Etsy wants their money. They are a business just like you are.
I'm sorry this happened to you, Etsy has said from the beginning they would not fix the star seller metrics, probably because they just don't have the man power. I had mine taken away for sending a message when I refunded an order someone made a mistake on the size. Even though the page says send a message to your buyer, it is not one that is counted for the message metric, so then they said I didn't respond. Personally I'm not sure that everyone looks at the star seller thing, I think more customers look at reviews when trying to decide what to buy.
